Blue

No. THey are vile and hideous and what age of child would you put in such a monstrosity?

Rockbird · 13/09/2010 23:58

Utterly hideous, wouldn't let them anywhere near a child of mine. They look cheap and nasty.

hidetheelephant · 14/09/2010 00:00

Someone has bought the blue ones for DS. I feel totally ungrateful if I take them back though.

Actually from their description I don't think it's those.

What do you think of:

1

2

3

HTE - they are truly hideous. Just tell the person you appreciated the gift but you were advised against a toddler wearing trainers or summat.

Monty100 · 14/09/2010 00:13

I think no 3 is cute.

hidetheelephant · 14/09/2010 00:15

She said they were from Office and had cartoons on them.

OP posts:
Monty100 · 14/09/2010 00:17

So, did you receive the Adidas trainers?

Monty100 · 14/09/2010 00:18

Oh, right, you're trying to find what someone's bought.

Some of the Office ones are ok.

hidetheelephant · 14/09/2010 00:18

I haven't received them yet. Could be any of those I think, although I could perhaps exchange them and pretend they didn't fit?

OP posts:
hidetheelephant · 14/09/2010 00:19

Which Office ones don't you like Monty?

OP posts:
Monty100 · 14/09/2010 00:22

I'm not too keen on 4 and 5 but they're a lot better than the pink/blue in the very first post. At least they are kiddified iyswim.

hidetheelephant · 14/09/2010 00:26

Why don't you like 4 and 5?

I still can't decide if I like any of them. DS only really wears proper shoes and trainer style shoes (you know the Clarks more casual shoe range)

OP posts:
muggglewump · 14/09/2010 00:30

Lovely, and essential.
Infants need trainers for when they're running, even when they can't walk.

Have you got the football shirt yet?

Monty100 · 14/09/2010 00:44

MW - grin

I just don't like them. I like the little converse baseball boots from Office though.

Monty100 · 14/09/2010 00:45

miche8 · 14/09/2010 12:45

i like the converse ones, but my converses dont support my arch, so i'm wary about putting my little boy in the same style, hes special needs so cant tell me if his feet hurt either. Its clarks all the way for us.

hidetheelephant · 15/09/2010 00:03

I don't even like Clark's Doodle Pumps for the reason miche mentioned.

Would I be unreasonable to say to her they aren't really appropiate for all day wear because they aren't supportive enough and ask if she minds if I pay the extra for some Kickers boots?

OP posts:
MrsRhettButler · 15/09/2010 00:07

don't like 4 or 5 but the rest are cute for toddlers imo

miche8 · 15/09/2010 09:27

hidetheelephant i though the sole looked thicker on our clarks doodles, i'll be watching him all day now.

my aunty wanted to take my son shopping to buy him some timberland boots - i just said he can only wear clarks shoes due to his narrow feet and she took him there instead, she was fine, she doesnt have children and i dont think it entered her head about getting shoes properly fitted rather than choosing what she liked. She still takes him shoe shopping every year.

i think most people would rather you say something so they dont waste money on something that wont be worn.

Just out of interest what brands are supportive? i'm not local to a start rite which is why we've always used clarks. Are these kicker boots you speak of worth looking at? my worry is they wont go with the boden army camo trousers he is fond of, we have a pair in every colour.

hidetheelephant · 15/09/2010 10:50

My friend is a podiatrist and she only recommends flat shoes that are fastened with velcro or laces. She hates flip flops, ballet pumps, slip on shoes, ugg boots, plimsolls/pumps/baseball boots and crocs. She says if you can easily bend the sides of the heel down they aren't supportive enough.

We get Kickers fitted in a proper shoe shop, so I presume they are OK? Will go there see what size he needs then buy them from Office.

OP posts:
PlumSykes · 15/09/2010 10:57

I don't really understand the argument that children's feet need to be supported.

Our feet were designed to walk around with no shoes on at all, gripping and flexing naturally on the ground - why do children need a cm of stiff rubber sole to support them?

Protected from Tarmac/concrete/snow, yes, but not supported.

RamblingRosa · 15/09/2010 12:11

I don't like the addidas infant shoes at all. Someone gave a baby pair (pink) to DD when she was born. They were vile. Needless to say I never put her in them and gave them to a charity shop.

getabloodygrip · 15/09/2010 12:13

Shit, they are REALLY REALLY REALLY bad.
