£100 to spend - what to buy

I feel I have absolutely nothing to wear. I am not the most stylish person on the planet, but I do usually try to at least have something a little pretty, or a bit smarter/more interesting for evenings out etc. However, recently, I seem to have descended to the same two pairs of jeans and a variety of t-shirts. Which is doing my head in.

DH and I have agreed that aif I spend £100 on a few things, that will be fine. Luckily, I don't really need work clothes (although will be using a small voucher MIL gave me to buy a couple of new pieces of costume jewellery to update some things) so I just need things for weekends and evenings. I am a size 16 with good legs and breasts but not much of a waist and a bit of a tummy. I have jeans and shoes in abundance so that's not needed. I'm looking for perhaps one skirt that can be worn with tights/leggings and then a few tops or jumpers or something that will jazz up jeans. Also, perhaps a good pair of non work, appropriate-for-autumn trousers?

I would be happy to buy only 3 or 4 great things and wear them with the basics I already have if necessary. But I want a couple of pieces that will make me look more fashionable.

Please help.

I would spend £100 on a good jacket/coat which you can wear and update your jeans/tshirt look..

Lots of nice skirts here. What about getting a couple of skirts, one in denim or cord so more casual but still a bit different from jeans?

BlingLoving · 13/09/2010 17:11

Thanks both.

I don't want to buy a jacket/coat because a) I have a few and b) I want something I can wear all the time - ie while in restaurants, at friends houses etc. I am one of those people who needs to remove her jacket as soon as she arrives anywhere.

I'll look at those Esprit skirts, thanks - I like that and didn't realise they did size 16.

What about a great bag??!! I'm a bag fiend!

BlingLoving · 13/09/2010 17:37

I do like a good bag - but I have the same issue with that as with a jacket or coat. I'm looking for something a bit more interesting for when I'm inside and settled.

How about something like this:

great plains top

wool skirt

with this, or this with jeans........

top

or this with jeans
white top

how are your jeans?
are they mum jeans?
id do boots, a short skirt ( to wear with tights or leggings)

BlingLoving · 14/09/2010 09:55

I like the white top.
The first top is lovely, but would make me look like Dolly Parton. No doubt! Grin.

The wool skirt is nice too, but I think I'd use that for work more than casual wear?

Cheryl - my jeans are good I think. I have a shorter pair of bootleg that are very flattering over the bum and a longer pair for wearing with heels that make me feel and look at least 5 pounds thinner. I will buy a longer, darker pair though as the long ones are quite light so not as smart for evening wear. But that's a seperate issue.

The cord skirt from Esprit someone recommended is in my online shopping bag already!
