packing list for dd's gap yr travels-any suggestions

then canada in the spring/summer

she can't decide on essentials like
how many clothes
camera or use phone etc

othre travel stuff you can recommend?

brimfull, no offence to the lady who mentioned the quick drying towel but while i was travelling i met loads of people who said they absolutely STINK after a while and maybe it is worth sacrificing a top to make room for it!

Swiss army knife is great idea- tell her to always put it in her main suitcase or she will have it nicked off her at customs. I know this is obvious but i am usually sensible and in a rush i forgot and put it in my hand luggage- was devastated as it was souvenir from my bunji jump!

Roll everything, can make loads of space! Buy toiletries out there as very cheap.
I used directravel for insurance. Never had to claim but cheap and cover seemed pretty comprehensive

those little wallets that go round your waist are a good idea. i used mine in the dodgier hostels to keep tickets/visa/money/passport.

Put everything you think you need and lay it out on the bed. The half it.

Then double the amount of money you were planning on taking with you.

On a more serious note take more than 3 pairs of knickers for a 12 month trip. This is not enough. You learn by your mistakes.
