Plain.
White.

All you nedd.

Owt else is naff.

BelligerentGhoul · 12/09/2010 22:10

Agree with Moondog. Plain cheap white or maybe chunky cream.

moondog · 12/09/2010 22:12

Any adornmet is with candles or flowers or (at a push) napkins.

I only do white, silver, candles (only white/cream) and a bit of greenery/flowers

brimfull · 12/09/2010 22:14

FritziGreenEyes · 13/09/2010 10:58

I love Rosenthal Gropius Tac

brimfull · 13/09/2010 11:47

daulton ones are cheap!!
might order some

not keen on the flowery ones ,maybe one not a whole set

fritzi-same as others but £££ as far as I can see-do I need to be enlightened about these plates?

OP posts:
FritziGreenEyes · 13/09/2010 14:19

It's a design Gropius did for Rosenthal. Love the simple Bauhaus style lines. Better picture here. Maybe it's a European thing...

brimfull · 14/09/2010 16:13

We have this, which we had when we got married, and then a real mix of serving dishes/jugs etc from all over.

If, say, it all fell down the stairs in a freak accident, I would love some of this

kickassangel · 15/09/2010 01:04

everywhere here seems to have endless white plates with either a silver or gold edge to them & i have decided i'd like some colour.

currently have the dark blue denby, but cannot replace it now we live in the US & it is starting to look 'scraped' quite a bit.

if money were no object, i'd have this for everyday

and this for dinner parties.

gtamom · 15/09/2010 10:14

Fab but realistically priced.

I also have mainly dark blue Denby.(Harlequin) I would like to use it for everyday and buy something white for special dinners.
This isn't much help to you at all, I will watch the thread for inspiration though!
Some stuff to look at.

PlumSykes · 15/09/2010 11:24

I'd like some of this or this to mix in with my white.

brimfull · 15/09/2010 14:31

i bought a load of 60s dinner plates from a second hand shop - very nice midwinter square ones. i agree not the height of fashion, but not expensive (so can use everyday) and i really like that no-one else has the same.
i have a friend who buys 'spotty plates' fro different sets, which is hard work to start with but looks fab.
don't get gold or silver edges if you want to use the plates daily - little children might put the plates in the microwave....
