for DSS2's Bar Mitzvah.
What do you think of
this?

It's not to my taste, neckline too fussy. Are you very tall and slim?

Also I wouldn't wear with black shoes. Think I would wear with nude.

tethersend · 09/09/2010 18:59

Sorry- the cut doesn't look too good to me; it sits badly on the mannequin, which is never a good sign.

How about this or this?

Bonsoir · 10/09/2010 09:12

Yes, I'm tall (1m74) and slim (size 10/12). I definitely wouldn't accessorise red with black - but I'm not a great wearer of black in any case.

I expect the cut is great, because the cuts in Marni are always great! The dresses you linked to are too elderly for me, tethersend. But I am up for suggestions - just not too aged!

If you like the Marni one, just get it- you don't need us to agree Grin

Do you want red or are you open to other colours?

Lizzylou · 10/09/2010 09:33

I love that dress, would not look good on me, am tall but sadly not willowy.

I do love a red dress, is there anywhere you can go to try it on?

tethersend · 10/09/2010 10:14

This is lovely... as is this- may be too pensionable though Grin

AuldAlliance · 10/09/2010 10:23

It's made of viscose, which would put me off, especially as I suspect it is a little pricy.

But if you like it, go for it.

AuldAlliance · 10/09/2010 10:27

Ah, have just seen the price. That is indeed a little pricy for viscose.

PlumSykes · 10/09/2010 10:34

Love the dress. LOVE it. No idea what one wears to a Bar Mitzvah though, so can't really advise. Would look fabulous with snakeskin shoes.

Bonsoir · 10/09/2010 17:56

I might try and pop down to Avenue Montaigne tomorrow afternoon while DD is at ballet and try the Marni dress on.

tethersend - you obviously like the Grecian look that is fashionable right now - it's not for me though! Thank you for trying though!

I'm sure it would look lovely on you Bonsoir but with your height and slenderness I would sooooo be showing it off much more Wink

tethersend · 10/09/2010 18:41

Bonsoir, you are the queen of the sly put down Grin

I wouldn't wear any of the dresses I linked to- but since we're being cutting honest, the Marni one looks like a Christmas present wrapped by Stevie Wonder. I hope for your sake it looks better on.

fimac1 · 10/09/2010 19:41

How about using this company and hiring one? there are lots of reds!

I'm in Paris so I cannot rent a dress in England!

And also I want to buy a dress and have it in my wardrobe for parties this autumn Smile

Bonsoir · 10/09/2010 20:01

tracey - I'm very quite old, you know Smile. Don't want to bare too much flesh...

nikki1978 · 10/09/2010 20:10

Hmm.. not too be rude but it is very shapeless and I can't see it being flattering on anyone. But go try it on and prove us wrong Grin

LMAO at tethersends last comment!

MaeMobley · 10/09/2010 20:18

Is this for the synagogue? or the party? or both?

Do you need to wear a hat? assume not as not married?

4plus1 · 10/09/2010 23:25

Think that shade of red is a bit harsh tbh
