I realise I'm quite late in getting into the leggings thing, but can someone tell me what you wear them with? Some ideas of tops and shoes/boots would be most helpful, I'm bored out of my mind with jeans.

Thanks in advance!

Ooohhhh I have loads of tunics or very short dresses that I wear over mine - in fact one of the kids at work asked if I was Muslim as he had never seen my legs!!

The White Stuff is good for dresses to wear over them.

dexter73 · 07/09/2010 18:58

I am wearing navy leggings today with this tunic/dress. I had ballet pumps on today but would wear them with boots like these when it is colder.

DanceInTheDark · 07/09/2010 19:34

Please for the love of all that is holy check how see thru they are before you go out in public. I am sick of seeing peoples arses thru thin fabric leggings. Either that or wear "proper" knickers!

dexter73 · 07/09/2010 19:36

I don't wear anything with leggings that is so short you can see my knickers!

LynetteScavo · 07/09/2010 19:37

You must wear a tunic or dress over leggings...don't show your bum! But they are a great discovery, sooo comfortable!

DanceInTheDark · 07/09/2010 19:43

Then i haven;t seen your arse recently Dex Wink

dexter73 · 07/09/2010 19:45

For that you must be thankful!!

Hazeyjane · 07/09/2010 19:55

All the leggings I find seem to be really thin material (or horrendous, snakeskin, wet look, faux leather etc etc)

Does anyone know where I can get a good, slightly thicker pair, preferably in charcoal?

evansmummy · 07/09/2010 20:01

Thanks for all these ideas. I will definitely not be showing my arse either - wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy, so I think, DanceInTheDark, you are safe.

I would echo Hazeyjane's question though, where can we get the thicker variety?

My thick black ones are from New Look. Dark Grey (or is it Gray?) from Asos.

evansmummy · 07/09/2010 20:06

Hazey, just seen these at Next

Hazy - they had some nice thick charcoal leggings in Asda.

dexter73 · 07/09/2010 20:40

I saw some nice thick leggings in a Uniqlo advert in the paper but unfortunately the website is down until the 9th September.

dexter73 · 08/09/2010 09:27

Hazeyjane - how about these?

noddyholder · 08/09/2010 09:30

Don't wear them too often though or you will get fat!

aquavit · 08/09/2010 09:35

how aboutthese 'winter leggings' - but be quick before the company goes bust!

the regular ones are good too

happystory · 08/09/2010 09:43

Last year I had some from Wallis, grey pair and a black, they were quite thick and 'supportive', got to go to work now but have a look on their website...think they were called 'seamed leggings' or summat...

Hazeyjane · 08/09/2010 10:06

Those m+s ones look great, but I have ridiculously short legs (I have never, ever bought a pair of trousers that I haven't had to take up!), and think those would be difficult to take up nicely. The Next ones look good though, and cheap too. I think I will be making a purchase!

I haven't worn leggings for years, but with post caesarian stomach they suddenly seem like a great ideaSmile

evansmummy · 08/09/2010 10:53

I'm very excited about all this now. Have some great ideas (thank you!), and wil be going shopping on Friday Grin.

Very interested in this leggings discussion. Bit of a leggings virgin also and like the op I too am sick to the back teeth of wearing jeans all the time. Which brands are the best for giving you a good shape especially around the knees - like the effect you get when wearing a good pair of opaque tights? I hear good things about Uniqlo??

dexter73 · 08/09/2010 11:46

Hazeyjane - the M&S ones come in 3 different lengths so you should be ok with the short ones.

Hazeyjane · 08/09/2010 13:31

dexter73, I know, I have bought m+s short jeans, and still had to take them upBlush.

dexter73 · 08/09/2010 14:06

Crikey you must be tiny!!!
