Lands' End kids clothes - any good?

I rate their women's stuff for quality (if not style) - has anyone ordred from the kids' range?

dd would get such a kick out of the tie-dyed tshirts but they're not especially cheap...

Can't answer but will watch with interest - I hadn't realised Lands End did children's stuff but I've just had a look and found a coat for dd when I've been trawling all afternoon looking for something warm but not shiny/fur trimmed.

tinylion · 06/09/2010 20:11

I find their sizing MASSIVE...in the women's wear at least. Good quality I think for the basics, but keep an eye on the sizing...

oh very nice - just had a look myself, i am also a fan of Millets childrens clothes - they have great sales

exexpat · 06/09/2010 20:29

I used to get a lot of their children's clothes while living overseas - it was all very good quality (t-shirts kept their shape, trousers kept their knees etc) and I didn't find the sizing particularly big - my DCs always wore at least one or two sizes bigger than their age, but that was the same with every brand of children's clothes. They also do some children's items in slim/regular/'husky' sizing - the website gives pretty detailed sizing information as far as I remember.

The main ranges would probably work out quite expensive at current exchange rates, but they always have very good stuff in the 'overstocks' department - I used to buy big parcels of clothes for the next winter at the end of the season, eg down jackets for about $25 which lasted through two children. Worth checking before you order whether you will have to pay UK tax/import duty on anything you order.

Have bought a coupleof things overseas - v good quality. Just got the catalogue for the new UK kids stuff and it looks nice - apart from an obsession with 'modesty' - all skirts have built-in-shorts.

exexpat · 06/09/2010 21:22

Ah, DD misses their skorts - she spends a lot of time hanging upside down from climbing frames or sliding down firemen's poles so they are actually not a bad idea.... So have they started doing children's clothes here now?

MrsBadger · 06/09/2010 22:25

their schoolbags look good too

ok I am sold

I'm sold too - have ordered coat for dd1, who has rather pleasantly chosen the bright blue rather than pink (breathes sigh of relief that she seems to be coming out of the pink phase at long last... shame dd1 is 1.5 and probably about to enter it)

HowsTheSerenity · 07/09/2010 18:02

We have a lot of their stuff. The 7 year old is currently wearing the 16 year olds hand me downs. It last forever.

exexpat · 07/09/2010 19:03

I'd better check out the UK website then - DS is too old for their stuff now, but DD would probably still like it.

iwilldothis · 07/09/2010 19:08

neither did I realise LE did kids' stuff...thanks for the tip! :)

Annner · 07/09/2010 19:15

Fab down coats for DCs just arrived - complete with cuff gloves for when they forget their gloves/ get a snowball up their arm. Much nicer than the shiny Boden one on offer this year, and with a code, cheaper.

exexpat · 07/09/2010 20:44

Did you mention a code, Annner?

brimfull · 07/09/2010 21:27

ds has worn their down coats for a few yrs now

I have managed to get them on offer and the quality is great.Shame he is the youngest as they never look worn out.
They have just expanded their kids range here in the uk and I like the look of the sweatshirts.

HowsTheSerenity · 08/09/2010 08:42

exexpat - It is a classic. I Think there is a line from the movie for every occasion.
