I bought this today. I think I might take it back.

Dress. Just discovered it is hand wash or dry clean only and I tried it on thinking it was a long top. Not sure I dare wear it as a dress. I did get 25% off it though.

I think I am on the wrong forum, as lovely as those dresses where they were awfully expensive!! Is it only me that bargin shops?

NoahAndTheWhale · 07/09/2010 10:46

I could never afford any of those dresses Smile. Well possibly the £35 one if it were for a special occasion. About £20 is my limit and tbh don't do much clothes shopping. But they are fun to look at.

diddl · 07/09/2010 10:47

Me as well then Claire I´d be wanting a full outfit-at leastGrin

I recently paid ?20 for a pair of skinny jeans & thought that that was a rip offBlush

I don't think you are on the wrong forum. Different people have different budgets that is all. If you are going to wear something a lot then paying say £50 for a dress can be worth it.

NoahAndTheWhale · 07/09/2010 10:57

But it is much more satisfying to have not paid very much and wear it a lot Grin

anonymousbird · 07/09/2010 11:22

But the sad fact is, that if you have not paid very much AND wear it a lot, chances are it won't last, or it will stretch/fade/bobble etc.

I don't know how old you guys are, but now I am approaching 40, for the first time I don't Shock at the idea of paying £20 for a t-shirt. Or indeed £80 for the right dress.

I am wealthier these days than I was I suppose, but I've never been a big shopper. I hate clothes shopping, actually.

Saying this, I mainly shop in H&M. I love H&M.

Zondra · 07/09/2010 11:47

I've just had this dress arrive today & it's so flattering & comfy. I totally agree that dresses for the day are the way to go! Much more comfortable around the waist. www.phase-eight.co.uk/fcp/product/warehouse/All-Sale/Queen-Jersey-Dress/200974351

JenaiMarrHePlaysGuitar · 07/09/2010 11:50

Looks lovely, Zondra.

Zondra · 07/09/2010 11:59

Thanks JenaiMarr! :)

It's lovely with thick opaques in black & plum. Tried it on with ballet pumps & heels & it's great with both.
Really loving the fact it's navy,too- it's a colour I've only started really wearing & it's v.flattering & a bit different from the usual black.

They have it in purple in the sale, too. Would've got it but, sadly my size was out.

sorrento56 · 07/09/2010 12:17

Believe me, I can't afford stuff like this either but I have just received some money and I wanted to buy something nice.

My legs are awful as I have very fat calves. MY husband thinks my thighs are nice thoughGrin.

yy, navy is lovely. I tried on another waterfall cardigan in H&M in navy. It was a very lightwieght knit and very lovely. And it was about £7.99.

I didn't buy it because I'd already chosen a heavier purple one - I'm just training myself now to think that it is actually perfectly acceptable to buy more than one of this kind of thing, so I might have to pop in and pick one up. I'm not exactly loaded, but I can stretch to £7.99! I'm still set in the mindset I had when I was really hard up, I think.

vesela · 07/09/2010 12:44

I like clothes shopping if I don't have to buy something. All my best buys have been impulse buys, bought because they caught my eye, i.e. I really like them.

I hate clothes shopping if I think I need something.

JenaiMarrHePlaysGuitar · 07/09/2010 12:48

vesela it recently took me three shopping trips of at least four hours each to buy a suit that I absolutely needed for an interview (I know everyone rolls their eyes when we say "but I have nothing to wear!", but I literally had nothing suitable for an interview). Horrible.
