I think it looks lovely .... but would it be ok if it rains???

BelleDameSansMerci · 05/09/2010 20:32

It's fabulous... It's very "Beatnik" which I gather is the thing for Autumn. It would look fantastic with jeans. And an umbrella if it rains Grin

JackieNo · 05/09/2010 20:33

V nice. Poss not the most flattering shape if you have large norks though.

BibiThree · 05/09/2010 20:36

Lovely. But I have large norks and now I want it all the more because I can't have it.

Get it.

pagwatch · 05/09/2010 20:36

It is nice.
A good nod to both this seasons velvet and military trends in one coat

carriedababi · 05/09/2010 20:36

what on earth is beatnik?
i've never heard of that before, please do tell

do you think the colour suits someone with dark brown hair?

OP posts:
littlemissindecisive · 05/09/2010 20:37

Ah...an umbrella ! I'm too used to pushing a pram and chasing toddlers to remember such useful items exist Grin

carriedababi · 05/09/2010 20:38

is a scarf a total no no with this coat?
or could i wear one over the funnel neck if it was v chilly?

OP posts:
littlemissindecisive · 05/09/2010 20:38

carriedababi · 05/09/2010 20:39

That is one lovely coat. Gorgeous colour.

sungirltan · 05/09/2010 20:40

its bit 90's. also velvet isnt a stiff as wool so it will crease and look worn easily.

resistanceisfutile · 05/09/2010 20:41

It's very pretty.

But doesn't look very warm. Or waterproof.

pagwatch · 05/09/2010 20:41

military is in every year. It is compulsory .

clippityclop · 05/09/2010 20:46

I love this but can't have one because velvet makes me go all goose-bumpy when Itouch it. Ho hum.

carriedababi · 05/09/2010 20:48

well i was wondering if i should get a black coat as it kind of goes with other things more, but i dont think black suits me as i have v dark brown[almost black hair]

BelleDameSansMerci · 05/09/2010 20:51

Beatniks were a sort of late 50s/early 60s trend - they were more sort of intelligentsia/bohemian and arty than the mainstream. Sort of Audrey Hepburn in dark sweater and tight fitting capri pants. Basically very stylish 60s.

BelleDameSansMerci · 05/09/2010 20:51

No, no, don't get black. Buy this. I'm quite tempted myself! It will look fantastic with dark hair.

carriedababi · 05/09/2010 20:55

thanks for the the advice girls Smile

I've got my eye on this too Carrie. Monsoon have some nice coats and jackets in at the moment. I like this one too. And this one though it's less colourful

Ronaldinhio · 06/09/2010 08:39

looks ok if you have small norks as mentioned

this type of thing has been done to death though and I'm sure you can find it somewhere cheaper
agree that it will look worn quickly

EdgarAllInPink · 06/09/2010 08:47

love both colour and fabric. will look lumpy if it isn't a very good fit (ie small norks as everyone else has said, but also if it doesn't fit over your bum)

a great counter-trend to the woeful anount of grey this season/ last season

carriedababi · 06/09/2010 09:08

norkily, i really like the bella. i couldn't get away with that as grey looks terrible on me.
the green one i love the colour, but ive never worn a coat with that style collar before[well apart from work suits but that doesn't really count], seems so grown up for me.

lovely lovely colour though

carriedababi · 06/09/2010 09:09

so could i wear a scarrf with the teal coat?
what about over the funnel neck?

moragbellingham · 06/09/2010 09:50

I got a lovely silver grey one from H&M a few years back.
Much cheaper and have to agree that it did look worn after a while but didn't care at that price.

One bit of porridge and it's ruined by an effort to remove it maybe?
