lovely colour, but would BLAIR wear it? Blair is all about the waist

Saw a beautiful olive green posh duffle coat by Whistles in a magazine yesterday but it's not on line yet. Will link it when they get their act together and put it on line.

Also a lovely red single breasted whistles coat, not on line yet either.

Love the sound of posh olive green one. Red is too much for me wrt to a coat.

Do you have a head band too? Grin

\link{http://www.houseoffraser.co.uk/Karen+Millen+Biker+moleskin+coat/143610748,default,pd.html?cgid=300\With lots of zips}
\link{http://www.houseoffraser.co.uk/Karen+Millen+Camel+masculine+coat/143614213,default,pd.html?cgid=300\Camel}, but prob not a great shape if you have norks.

JackieNo · 05/09/2010 09:06

In fact, \link{http://www.houseoffraser.co.uk/Casual+Jackets+Outerwear+for+Women/300,default,sc.html?prefn1=brand&prefv1=Karen%20Millen&viewAll&fix&spcl\Lots of the Karen Millen ones are nice}, and so are some of the \link{http://www.houseoffraser.co.uk/Casual+Jackets+Outerwear+for+Women/300,default,sc.html?prefn1=brand&prefv1=Mint%20Velvet&viewAll&fix&spcl\Mint Velvet} ones.

Not an exciting colour, but I love the shape of \link{http://www.urbanoutfitters.co.uk/Hearts-+amp-Hands-Red-Riding-Hood-Coat/invt/5133467267896&bklist=icat,5,shop,womens,womensclothing,wcoats\this one}.

Never heard of her before, but from googling her it looks like she goes for an 'ingenue' style. So very pretty, feminine, neat and cute.

Touches like bows, pin-tucks, pleats, lace - but done quite subtly.

Nothing double-breasted or masculine as this would make her look blocky and shapeless. And nothing straight-up-and-down as the waist needs to be in there somewhere.

I've been looking at this but haven't tried it on yet.

WhatsWrongWithYou · 05/09/2010 09:18

It's the teal one, obviously.

ValiumSingleton · 05/09/2010 09:35

I'm going to give the headband a skip!!

I have the norks of a mid naughties supermodel and that is where similarity ends

ValiumSingleton · 05/09/2010 09:39

That Hobbs Golford coat is nice.

The Olive green duffle-inspired coat is in this month's Marie-Claire I think.

Thanks for the links !

WhatsWrongWithYou · 05/09/2010 10:12

Monsoon.

WhatsWrongWithYou · 05/09/2010 10:14

And again.

ValiumSingleton · 05/09/2010 10:18

That first Monsoon one is absolutely gorgeous. A flattering shade of green too.

so often, imo, the shops get it wrong. They do a red coat, but the glare would would blind you. Or green so green you feel like a bush.

OP posts:
WhatsWrongWithYou · 05/09/2010 10:21

Well, I suppose each to her own - there are people who suit those particular shades of red or green. but even if the colour does 'suit', you don't necessarily want to be quite so vibrant and stand-outish.

I'm so glad you stated this thread, btw - her clothing style is exquisite. Am going to spend some time looking at images!

MarshaBrady · 05/09/2010 10:27

Oh she has the best wardrobe Grin Always looks so pretty. Plus I am a fan of the upper east side male version, Nate (is it?, memory's fading!)

ValiumSingleton · 05/09/2010 11:04

I wouldn't wear everything that she wears, some of the peter pan collars are a bit prim, but when you compare her outfits to Serena Vanderwotsit, who is much more contemporary in her style, I just can't remember anything she wore in 3 whole series!.

OP posts:
MarshaBrady · 05/09/2010 11:09

Serena does a lot of legs and boobs and hair (although still very pretty). Blair looks terrible when she wears stuff with massive leg O mutton sleeves and things that make her look big.

The character that gets on my nerves is the Brooklyn one. So irritating! Yet they let her get all the guys.

(I know, I know it's my one tv vice Grin).

That and a Devil Wears Prada (love Meryl in that)

JackieNo · 05/09/2010 11:17

\link{http://www.oasis-stores.com/Ruffle-Melton/Coats-&-Jackets/oasis/fcp-product/4500025014\Ruffles}? (also comes in \link{http://www.oasis-stores.com/Ruffle-Melton/Coats-&-Jackets/oasis/fcp-product/4500025140\purple})

ValiumSingleton · 05/09/2010 11:28

I didn't like Vanessa much. Her style was very boho blah and she was always hanging around even though she didn't go to their school, or any school at all..... Hmm ah yes, homeschooling, except she didn't have a home either.

I am more in the age group of Lily and Rufus obviously, but still hoping that georgina sparks just has a beach ball up her jumper.

OP posts:
ValiumSingleton · 05/09/2010 11:29

Jackie, the links don't work, but I do like the coat I think you're linking too!!

OP posts:
JackieNo · 05/09/2010 11:31

Weird - I wonder why the link didn't work, but it was the Ruffle Melton one. Sorry!

MarshaBrady · 05/09/2010 11:34

Yes me too. Lily looks great, and Rufus has done so well.

Yes Vanessa, very irritating. Dan is a weeb though. And chuck, hahaha at some of his moody looks. Although he and Blair are good together.
