don't know about the chalet coat, but have a squall one. i am 5ft 2", and size 12, mine is a 'm' and is plenty big enough, sizing is on the large size for lands end.

VictoriousSponge · 04/09/2010 13:57

yes - american innit.
i liek the furry one

I would say they are generous, probably to allow jumperage underneath. Got a chalet last year and it is nice and toasty -didn't know they came in two 'weights' though.

VictoriousSponge · 04/09/2010 16:10

which is yours

I have the Stadium Squall here but it looks like they are discontinuing it. Mine is black and very lightweight but incredibly warm and good in the wind - great for watching kids play sports [bored out of my mind emoticon]. I would say sizing is generous but not riduculously so unless you are v slender of frame. Sleeve length a bit short, although I do have v long arms. I get into mine in October and take it off sometime towards the end of March.

i got a squall jacket ( summer weight) in a sale years ago
was amazingly robust and well made

Yes, they are good - am thinking of getting the jacket version as well. I like the look of the chevron one you linked to, but wonder if the fake fur might go a bit matted?

moragbellingham · 04/09/2010 16:32

I got a chalet and a stamford long one to choose between last year.
I got small in both coats and I'm a 10/12.
They both feel superwarm but the chalet is lighter and less substantial bit more like a sleeping bag.
I'm 5 foot 2 and it is just below the knee (petite size) but that's what I wanted.

moragbellingham · 04/09/2010 16:34

I got the chalet regular weight and it was nice and warm but light.

That chevron one is defo new or I'd have bought it last year!

VictoriousSponge · 04/09/2010 16:35

warm enoiugh for average winter

Mine is like your second link, Sponge.

Scuttlebutter · 04/09/2010 21:26

I have a Squall too and a generous selection of assorted fleeces and lightweight jackets for dog walking/gardening/outdoor stuff. Find the sizing does work well in the middle of winter when you've got lots of layers underneath - that's a good thing, I think.

ValiumSingleton · 05/09/2010 08:32

Sizing is huge. I would be a 12 in M&S, or was last year (have lost a bit!) and I ordered down chalet in small 2 years ago.

SO warm, perfect when the cold would slice through you. It can be too warm but I have loads of coats not warm enough.

Have they done away with the delaney or the delancey? I noticed that one last year and thought that would be nice when it is cold but not arctic.

ValiumSingleton · 05/09/2010 08:35

I like this one belted at the back but not at the front though!?

ValiumSingleton · 05/09/2010 10:03

Quite similar to the Hobbs Joyce Coat but £60 cheaper.
