It's nice but not £38 nice

carriedababi · 03/09/2010 21:11

i think sh'd get the wear out of it, as shes a dress freak.

i do like the m and s purple fair isle too.

did you see the link to the yellow one i'm getting for her?

It's lovely. DD had a couple of Boden ones very similar, but the hand knit went bobbly and shrunk quite quickly, the other was a cord material & washed really well - wore both with a long sleeved Tshirt or polo-neck, tights and boots.

carriedababi · 03/09/2010 21:14

suppose i'm trying to weigh up getting two dresses i like, or one i really like...

dinahrod, did your dd have last years, bodens knitted dresss, my dd had the light blue with spots, and the purple with orange flower.

they went mega bobbly, but i used a bobble off on them

i know what you mean aboutrefering the cord, dd also had the big button dress that wore really well...

Bloody hell -= the boden dress is v expensive for cotton.

MollysChambers · 03/09/2010 21:22

Monsoon one will probably shrink - well it would at my hands anyway...

DinahRod · 03/09/2010 22:41

Carriedababi, dd had a navy blue knit with yellow buttons and stripey top/tights and ended up looking a bit Pippi Longstocking but it's more a top than a dress now! Nice respite from pink anyway.

Sometimes knits can go a bit baggy but the Monsoon one's got angora in it so probably will retain shape or maybe even shrink a bit.

Have you decided?

carriedababi · 03/09/2010 23:13

oh yes i know the one you mean dinahrod.
dd didn't have that one.

i haven't decided, tell me what to do!
lol

Really do like the colour and style of the Monsoon one, but would definitely keep the receipt just in case (given I can shrink most angora jumpers to barbie doll size).

Anthing you like here?

traceybath · 04/09/2010 09:26

Carrie - H&M had some nice knitted dresses in at £9.99.

I put all handwash stuff in the machine on handwash cycle and its fine.

happilyeverafter · 04/09/2010 10:53

I agree with less items, better quality but wouldn't pay £38 for the monsoon dress as I think it wouldn't look good after repeated wear/washing. Plus it doesn't look £38 special.

The boden one is gorgeous and will still be after several seasons wear which makes it well worth the money.

partyhats · 04/09/2010 10:58

Yes, I have bought my 2 some knitted dresses from H&m, Very reasonable prices and have wahed well. Good styles too, some v similar to the Boden knitted dresses and cardis. I like the Monsoon dress though, go for it if you think you'll get the wear. Not sure about the Boden one though, think thats too much for a cotton dress.

mejon · 04/09/2010 11:06

I prefer this one but would probably buy this or the cord one for DD - though now that she's in school she needs far fewer clothes and all last winter's still fit her!

MarmMummy · 04/09/2010 14:43

JoJo Maman do pretty fair aisle dresses. Just bought 2 for my 2yr old DD - one in a similar pink colour to yours and one in navy. I have a 15% discount code if you are near a shop too!

They have long sleeves, and thay are machine washable and they are almost half the price

[ponders how to do links]

MrsBadger · 04/09/2010 15:21

jojo dresses

LIZS · 04/09/2010 15:26

It is likely to shrink and will probably bobble after a few wears. Thought you were after preschool clothes - how much time is she really going to have to wear the likes of this ? tbh if you need to ask then the answer's probably no !

MrsBadger · 04/09/2010 18:14

(NB I kinew this was you Grin)

that dress is no way suitable for prerschool - you may not mind hand washing it but hand washing does not get out paint, playdough or bolognese

carriedababi · 04/09/2010 23:19

thanks for the link, i'n having a look now.
mrsb, Blush that you knew this was me!

you know those jojo gloves you suggested, i got them, along with hat and scarf and they are loooovely
thanksSmile
