ok, am going to Egypt, not been abroad before....

Apart from skiing, and a cold weekend to Euro Disney. Ok I went to Thailand once but that was15 years ago.

So I have no suitable clothes at all. I'm also skint. I have one plain black swimming costume, that's how bad a situation I'm in.

Going to Sharm el Sheike so quite Western clothing is ok. I'm 5ft 2" and a size 14, verging on a 16. Are maxi dresses a no? Do I get a kaftan or a sarong or both? Where can I get more swimwear at this time of year?

i wore my swimsuit all day everyday when in sharm only got dressed for meals. so linen trousers top and warm cardy, one dress, if you are going on any trips something to wear for that if you go out in the desert camel ride etc it will get filthy.

The weather in egypt is like someone blasting you with a warm/hot hairdryer.

I would just make sure your shoulders etc are covered.... maybe cotton long sleeved blouse and shorts? Or for trips out of the hotel linen trousers (cropped/full length)

To be honest, we didn't venture out of the complex much at all because I found it rather hard work being hounded by the locals (I am blonde, blue eyed) and whatever you wear within the complex is fine - no one minds :)

Thanks, will check out Figleaves. Have just got a nice looking Kaftan off ebay. Think I'll brave TK Maxx tomorrow as well. I shouldn't need that many clothes for a week should I - couple of cossies, kaftan, sarong, flip flops, birkies, few t-shirts, shorts, linen trousers. That should be ok?

I need to save most of my baggage limit for books or buy a kindle
