Hi there!

I have a surprise wedding tomorrow in a reg. office and nothing to wear whatsoever as I've changed sizes (just had a baby).

I don't want to spend any much money as I know anything I get won't get much wear (assuming I lose the rest of my baby weight!).

SO criteria are: High-street shops please (I'm going later today!), I'm size 10 - would prefer at least a cap sleeve, bottom bigger than my top...

Has anyone seen anything on their travels? Please MN, help me! I will be hanging off your every word!

Thanks in advance!

:) Thanks for reading anyway!

I'm not feeling very enthusiastic about going shopping!

That's why I need a plan.

How much of a budget ? Phase eight has a good sale with lots of nice dresses around £30-£40 here

Do you like maxi dresses ? Dorothy Perkins have some nice stuff for around £30 ish www.dorothyperkins.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?beginIndex=0&viewAllFlag=true&catalogId=33053&storeId=12552&categoryId=208786&parent_category_rn=208648&productId=1886848&langId=-1

Phase Eight had the perfect one, but it's out of stock :(

Noooooooooooo!

Checking out links and websites thus far, thanks for all the replies!

I think if I were you I'd be trying to get something adaptable that you could at least get some wear out of over the next few weeks before you lose the weight.

So something smart but not necessarily too 'weddingy'. Maybe a dress you could also wear with your boots and tights as we get into the autumn? This or something similar perhaps?

NorkilyChallenged · 02/09/2010 08:54

What is your budget and what kind of shape are you (eg bust size, bigger on hips, etc)? Are you bf'ing/need access?

I've been looking a lot lately so may be able to help once I have an idea of what you want.

I just got this dress yesterday in John Lewis, so ignore what it says about out of stock, there were another 3 in the store yesterday. It's fitted but with lots of pleats and ruching which disguise the tummy/bum area perfectly. Look through the Mango dresses as they're good prices for nice dresses.

NorkilyChallenged · 02/09/2010 08:56

Budget?

What was the perfect Phase Eight one and we might be able to track down something similar? Also JL stock Phase Eight and sometimes have stuff still in stock that is out of stock in Phase Eight...

PinkyBurgerhead · 02/09/2010 09:28

this one was great, what I like about it: simplicity I suppose. Also if it's a bit more on the wintery side I guess I could wear it more.

I am BF but won't be taking the baby so access not an issue.

I'm usually size 8 but not thin, quite hippy and like my waist. I am only 1/2 stone over but it's all on my upper arms, and between my waist and knees. Oh, I also have boobs now Grin

Frankly as long as I am presentable then I will be happy! £30ish would be wonderful, less than that and I would be most grateful!

I really appreciate the effort!!!!! Thanks!

Off to get ready for the shops but will check back in for last-minute inspiration!

You sound similar shape to me (but with boobs)

How was the Mango dress? It's v flattering on :)

How about this bit over budget but you could wear with long sleeve top under in colder weather?

NorkilyChallenged · 02/09/2010 09:34

Peacocks will have lots of dresses in your budget too - try there! Good luck, let us know what you find.

NorkilyChallenged - I have been looking at that Mango dress on their website and was wondering about buying it. Is it stretchy and what do Mango sizes come up like? I thought their stuff might be a bit on the small side. I am usually a 12 but thought I might need a 14 which is the largest size they do.

NorkilyChallenged · 02/09/2010 10:08

Yes it's stretchy. Their sizes are v small (I say that because I'm a 12 but needed a L from them and even then it was a bit close to needing XL). It's stretchy, so depending on your shape, L might be fine. It fits me well (have big hips, definite waist, flat chest) if that helps? Says sold out online but as I said, they had them in store yesterday when I bought mine.

I love it, completely changed my mind from when Ifirst tried it on :)

NorkilyChallenged · 02/09/2010 10:09

is incredibly flattering. you think as you put it on that it will be too small but then just manages to make you look small Grin
