Has anyone dyed a dress or paid for it to be dyed?

Bought an expensive-ish cream dress but am toying with the idea of dying it. Has anyone ever done this? Am I crazy to consider it?

I have dyed loads of things. What fabric is it though?

i dyed a dress once...was really pleased. went from pale blue and black, put a black dye through it and it came out navy and black...the stitching stayed white though....

The fabric is synthetic, satin-looking - nylon, elastane, acetate mix.

Good to hear you were pleased chimchar but I'd be really unhappy if the stitching stayed white - just wouldnt suit the style of the dress. Was it otherwise even colouring?

Has anyone ever tried dip-dyeing? My DH thinks I'm crazy but I wanted it to stand out and to look a bit unusual.
