Cheap but good hair straighteners - do they exist?

Or should I get some better ones off ebay?

I have a pair that I got from boots for £10 (reduced from £25). They make my hair very very straight but when I am done there is loads of broken off bits of hair on the floor. I am getting some good quality ones when I can afford it! I would go for the better ones plus some good protection spray for the good of your hair!

Thanks! Thing is, my hair isn't in great condition as it is so would def need some kind of protective spray (any recommendations?) but am guessing some straighteners leave your hair in better condition than others?

I do think that cheap straightners are a false economy.

A good pair of GHDs are an investment (nay, a necessity).

Agree with sandsad. Cheap ones just don't work as well, if at all. Same as epilators :)

After my GHD's broke a few months ago and I couldnt part with another £120 for a new pair I got some half price pink lee stafford ones from boots, I think they were £39.
They are great and i have been curling my hair with them and i couldnt do this with my old ghds for some reason. They are just as good as GHD's for less than half the price and my hair seems in better condition also. Grin

I tried a few pairs of straighteners before giving up and buying some GHD's. Best thing I ever did. The straighten in a fraction of the time so my hair gets less damaged and it stays straight for longer too.

If they ever break, I'll be buying another par of GHD's without question

Have had GHD's once they broke, I got Babyliss ones they do just a good a job, at a fraction of the price

I think its a bit silly to waste so much money on straighteners unless you can afford to, when there are so many exactly the same on the market now. I got my GHD's years ago when no straighteners went as hot and they were the best on the market but now theres so many similar ones. :)
