Botox for that annoying vertical line between eyes?

Just wondered if anyone has tried it for this? I don't have lines or wrinkles that are really deep or obvious, bearing in mind that I am 31, but the line between where I frown etc is horrible and I think it's really ageing. Sad

Has anyone used botox to sort this? Any ill results?

Also does anyone know if you can just target a small area with botox? I don't want to have a totally frozen forehead.

I know the line you mean! I hate mine. It makes me look like a miserable grouch. Worse than looking just 'old' (what a crime Hmm Confused). I want to look content, but hard when I have the pot boiler grumpy face.

topsi · 29/08/2010 11:46

It does depend which areas you have treated you need to go for a consult

moragbellingham · 29/08/2010 19:42

I had my frown line done and a bit in the forehead.

My surgeon was pretty honest and said that the frown line is the most difficult one to do.
I did notice a big difference but it didn't do enough to make me go back and have it redone.

I did develop a big green bruise on my forehead and had to tell everyone I'd hit my head on the car doorGrin.

My surgeon is regarded as one the best and I tend to do that with any injection though.
I am a freak.

moragbellingham · 29/08/2010 19:43

BTW - I switched jobs and it was as good as another round of Botox.

No more frowning!

PaulineCampbellJones · 29/08/2010 19:46

I got my glabella done for migraine (where the frown line is.) Not only has it worked a treat but I look much less tired!

upahill · 29/08/2010 19:54

Can any one recommend someone/somewhere really good in the North West of England. I live in Wigan but can travel to Manchester very easily (or any where for that matter)

I look extremly scowly!

IWouldNotCouldNotWithAGoat · 29/08/2010 19:59

Ooh! Ooh! Pauline, does botox really work on migraine? Do you just have to have the one area done for it to be effective?

PaulineCampbellJones · 29/08/2010 20:09

Yes it works for me! I pay for it though (wouldn't dare see my GP about getting it done on NHS but he recommended someone). I don't get any aura or visual disturbance just the terrible pain above my eyes so it has really lessened it. It has changed my life as I used to have terrible cluster migraines that lasted days.

Bechka · 29/08/2010 22:25

I would highly recommend, have never had any problems, not being able to have it is the one thing that bugs me about breastfeeding! Although obviously baby comes first!

Timbuktu · 29/08/2010 22:35

I had it done for some slight horizontal lines on my forehead. I went to a private gp and it cost £100 for the one area. It's amazing, made a really nice subtle difference. It;s also lasted for nearly five months - I'm 30 and the gp said that at this age it will last for up to six months.

Alouiseg · 29/08/2010 22:39

I'm definitely having it done, just got to get the children back to school then essential maintenance can start in earnest.

upahill · 30/08/2010 13:43

So no one can recommend a good clinic in the North West then?

PaulineCampbellJones · 30/08/2010 14:03

No, sorry. In the NE here.

willybreeder · 30/08/2010 22:51

I'm 38 and had botox only in that area, it felt a little uncomfortable and I got a headache but the results were worth it! I felt it lasted 4-6 months. I could make my eyes expressive too!

echt · 31/08/2010 08:21

I'm a teacher and I notice my frown lines go away in the holidays.:o

upahill · 31/08/2010 10:41

Well I'll have to assume that either no one in the North West of England has Botox done or they are keeping it a well kept secret and don't want to share with me! Sad

LWRF · 31/08/2010 11:10

Did mine in may - fab, very happy - am 29 and they were very tiny but nothing now and also you will stop frowning....Just do it

greygirl · 31/08/2010 11:30

i have my '11' lines done - my eyebrows aren't very mobile so i don't bother with the forehead. my lines aren't bad,but they won't be getting any worse!
i go to a nurse in south cheshire and i did not get any bruises, and i can still just about move my eyebrows, but i can't frown.

i find my migraines have gone (but that may have been giving up caffeine, which i thoroughly recommend for anyone with migraines.)

greygirl · 31/08/2010 11:32

if you can manage macclesfield upahill i can tell you about my nurse.

minipie · 31/08/2010 11:46

I'm curious about this too - just for the line between the eyebrows, wouldn't want whole forehead or anything else done.

Has anyone had this done in London and could tell me how much it costs, how frequently it needs doing, and where they go?

ShrimpOnTheBarbie · 31/08/2010 11:53

I'm curious too. Have just one line along my left eyebrow. I know it's from a migraine I had this year that last 4 months and made me frown all the time. No other major lines. Any Aus people know where to go?

oh i figured it was cheaper than a facelift, it is a very bad poison, but it is somewhat diluted. i think you either like the idea (prevents further wrinkles rather than irons them out completly) or you don't (people die from botulin toxin and what if it goes wrong?)
for what it's worth, my nurse had had it done and understood when i said i wanted it done lightly, and she could move her eyebrows (and she was very 'treatmented up'. i looked like a bag lady in comparison)

i'm not sure i'd have a facelift but if i had the money i have a booblift i think...

upahill · 31/08/2010 13:26

Hi greygirl,

Macclesfield isn't too far away for me!

Remotew · 31/08/2010 13:39

Why are you all worrying in your late 20's/30's? The ageing process doesn't really kick in until you are mid 40's. If you start now, and I believe it is addictive, then how much stuff will you have had injected by the time you really start looking old (approaching 50 like me) and how many ££££'s?

I'm only jealous as I cannot justify the expense but boy do I need it now. I didn't 20 yrs ago. Grin
