My husband badly needs to update his wardrobe - think sadly neglected for years, buying something cos it's in the sale no matter what it looks like and you get the picture! He does have some nice stuff and has made an effort of late. However, now he needs a winter coat (not wool, more of a jacket) and some tops for everyday wear. He's 45, 6'2" and generally takes a large but his problem is that he's so darn thin that large, whilst being perfect across the shoulders, often swamps him in the body IWKWIM. Any suggestions as to where we might look on-line.

He tried the waxed jacket from Crew last year but it was too short on sleeves or too big on body depending on size. That's the sort of style he's thinking of - www.crewclothing.co.uk/Hudson-Dry-Wax-Jacket-PRODM01_0330/ although it doesn't have to be waxed.

For everyday wear, probably thinking along Gap/Boden type styles rather than Next or Timberland. He doesn't particulary want to wear shirts & jumpers each day but nor does he want a sweatshirt with t-shirt under - something inbetween.

Any suggestions pretty please Grin

Until I got tot he end of your post I was going to suggest Boden.

Another place might be worth looking is John Lewis- they have got a bit trendier- and if you can afford it, Gant.

Hadn't thought about John Lewis thanks Purple - shall have a look now. Gant have lovely things but he says Gant is a waste of money to 'wear working from home' ... grr. I bought him a lovely Gant jumper in the spring and he took it back Shock! So yes, Gant is great but for Christmas!

Oh God,
I've been searching for ages for the same thing.
For three years running I've been bringing clothes (specifically coats) home only to trudge back to the shops with it.
Done the North Face/Timberland/M&S ones and just bought a padded down gilet to tide him over till the next expedition begins.

If you see anything let me know and vice versa!

I thought I was the only one!!

He's now chosen something from Gap that he wants to try to tide him over until winter starts. He hasn't shown me, but knowing him I think it must be this. Honestly, I wish he'd take the money and buy a good, expensive coat that he will get a few years out of. He got a lovely one about 8 years ago, it was expensive at the time, but boy was it nice. Keep me posted!

Barbour for the jacket? They do a similar jacket (DH has one) there is an outlet in South Shields if you are any where near.
