Too specific (& embarassing) a boot query for the big boot thread

I have developed a painful corn between little toe and the next one along, rendering my entire winter shoe and boot wardrobe unwearable. ARRgh. The only comfy wide toed-yet not hideous looking boots I have seen so far are some by Ugg boots(not the fluffy kind, this is a rigid boot I'm looking for.) Which are £250. And say Ugg on the back. Anyone else suffered this? Any suggestions?? I have found that converse trainers are the absolute worst for aggravating it, whilst Gola are very comfy, but only seem to come in impractical suede...

have you seen someone about the corn and are you ABSOLUTELY sure it's a corn and not a verruca?

finallynaptime · 28/08/2010 13:29

Yes, absolutely sure as it's actually gone now after a summer of flip flops and free toes. Thought it would make the op too longwinded if I added that. Just don't want it to come back and it definitely was caused by loads of walking(pushing wailing newborn in pram) wearing my favourite converse and carvela boots rather than suitable shoes

Boots similar to these ((www.kurtgeiger.com/online-shop/165556-kurt-geiger-venice)) although, the cheaper Carvela version, about 3 years old, are what I am feeling the loss of most keenly!
Hope the link works, not done it before.

No, that didn't look like it worked. Did I use the wrong brackets?

I've got a corn there, very sore though strange, because some of my widest shoes give me most pain Confused. I find corn cushions (how old do I feel) help.

Duo website looks fab. Just realised there are two "r"s in embarrassing. A mumsnet faux pas!

It's awful isn't it Seb1. Agree it is the single most aging thing thats happened since becoming a mum and not even related to the baby! For me, it was definitely narrower shoes doing it. I found those little gel cushions, really helped. Is that what you meant? Although they can work their way free sometimes!

Go see the chiropodist every few months for removal. It doesn't hurt and is the only way to go.I find even wide boots like my really comfy fitflop boots aggravate them. But i am always ok in the summer because of flipflops.

topsi · 28/08/2010 14:39

kill or cure?

finallynaptime · 28/08/2010 22:41

topsi they look a bit scary! teta, you are probably right; had been hoping to avoid the chiropodist, good to know it doesn't hurt. Have just read some chiropodist advice online about this problem. It advised that you should go through your wardrobe and get rid of any shoes not shaped like human feet. No shoes are shaped like human feet!
