I don't think they'd look right - sorry. I don't think you can mix wood and metal and colour.

carriedababi · 27/08/2010 23:18

thats ok, i prefer an honest opinion,

do you think they only go with a glass top table?

I think they could look good actually, depending on what kind of table you have. A contrast in styles far cooler than having everytihng minimal and angular liek the chairs.

carriedababi · 27/08/2010 23:49

the table is a beech butcher top, iyswim, looks a bit like a choppiing board real wood, not mdf.

I think they could look great.

Not my personal taste but if I saw it done I would admire the look.

I have seen similar done and the overall effect was very minimalist and cool.

moondog · 28/08/2010 00:00

Yep, sounds good.
I have modern chairs with a huge wooden table and like it.

carriedababi · 28/08/2010 00:02

hmmm suppose i could always get them, see how it works and if it doesn't look right get a glass top.

perhaps when dd age 3 is a bit older.

If the table is chunky I'd be more inclined to go with these but it's difficult to say w/out seeing the table.

DinahRod · 28/08/2010 00:09

Have seen something similar in a home style magazine, was a bold splash of colour in a contemporary kitchen which was all brown dark wood/stainless steel/white floors and walls

moragbellingham · 28/08/2010 09:03

I love the chairs but is it quite a dark green?
A leaf green would've been good but think it's verging on emerald in the pics.
Have you seen them in RL?

Try them out - I think the mix is great rather than all wood.
Actually, I don't much like wood but it's practical.

Bonsoir · 28/08/2010 09:05

I like combinations of very modern design (eg chairs) with older design (eg table) but I don't like the chairs you have linked to in the OP!

teta · 28/08/2010 09:16

I really like the chairs and i think they would look really stunning with a pale table. But the rest of the room would have to be fairly minimalist to live up to the them!.

diddl · 28/08/2010 13:02

The table sounds lovely.

Don´t like the chairs at all tbh.

ShrimpOnTheBarbie · 28/08/2010 13:07

I think they would be ok. And better with a wooden table than a glass one, tbh. I don't love the modern chair look - love more traditional ones but if you are going for a statement and keep the rest of the room minimalist, I think it would work.

finallynaptime · 28/08/2010 13:23

I like them and think the combination would look good

finallynaptime · 28/08/2010 13:26

I wouldn't get a glass table, we're just selling one, and have bought a wooden one similar to what you describe. Children's heads are just magnetically attracted to the edge of glass tables. I think the combination of traditional and modern is nicer than modern and modern anyway, if that makes sense
