Orange Frock Continued and my sister's knickers

Starting a new thread as none of the links work on the old one. Just wanted to say - firstly - so sorry to have disappeared for a month. My silence is no reflection of my gratitude for all the lovely comments on the orange frock saga. Have been on holiday.

The orange frock in question is
here

and it is for my little sister's wedding. I'm a size 10, paleish complexion and was fretting that it didn't suit me but was told that it did. As a result of which have had a conversion about the fact that I never wear colour KristinaM. And think that lipstick might be a generally good idea. Have no idea where the resistance to jewellery comes -or the attraction to brown and sludge clothes -- I don't live in the country! I tried the dress on with a necklace and it really lifted it.

Anyway - it's a registry office wedding next week and I'm a witness so I think the dress needs more than a pashmina, especially as the weather may be dreadful. I have bought this jacket as a potential go with. (I love it anyway)? I still need to find shoes and am thinking tan with a tan bag?

I'm after a tan sandal/heel that is not too vertiginous

I like these in tan but would love to find something cheaper.

this is the jacket

I'm yet to find the necklace but need something silver and cheap I think...

While I'm here, the gorgeous bride has just texted and asked me for advice on non-VPL/invisible knickers that aren't a thong? She's wearing a fairly tight fitting frock. I'm quite amused to find out that although she's not a mother she lurks around the mumsnet pages so if you're reading, hello sis!

Feel free to tell me the jacket is a disaster but I still need to find an alternative before next Sunday...
x

By the way - cf above --my comment that 'I don't live in the country'. I was in no way suggesting that people who dwell in the country were necessarily attracted to brown and sludge clothes and disliked jewellery... the background to that comment was that a poster on my last thread wondered whether my very low maintenance look, absence of make up, and love of sludge colours, stemmed from a life of stomping around in fields. Sorry.
[shuffles out, orange frock over head]

Those sandals are a bit uncomfortable tbh but these aren't for some reason. £30 on the KG website last time I looked (and cried!)

moragbellingham · 28/08/2010 16:24

how about this to match the biscuity colour in the shoe?

miche8 · 28/08/2010 18:17

I love the jacket but think its not right for the dress. I also dont think you need a necklace as there is detail around the neck on the dress. Not sure on tan shoes and bag either. Sorry thats not what you wanted to hear.

I'll have a think and be back.

smeraldina · 28/08/2010 18:28

Open to hearing anything! Last thread was anti-jacket as well - but pro-necklace. I was anti-necklace (partly because I am a chronic jewellery avoider)

Trouble is that I do need something over the frock. Perhaps the problem is that it is essentially a summer dress and therefore I am wearing it at the wrong time.

Thanks for the shoe tip morag....know what you mean about weeping at sale reductions...

Will keep throwing clothes around the bedroom. Ach well. At least I'm not the bride.

How about pale purple or lilac shoes?

these
these
these

Did you get the silver jacket?

miche8 · 28/08/2010 19:33

Purple and orange looks fab together, needs confidence to pull it off though.

How about nude/gold/silver shoes and bag?

I think a pashmina would be fine.

smeraldina · 28/08/2010 19:51

Er, tethers, nope I got the navy jacket;it arrives tomorrow - logic was obviously crying out for the silver but I would never have worn it again, and I feared looking too "matchy" -- I want to wear an outfit but fear looking hypercoordinated.

No fear of that at the mo. Will look like jumble sale.

So... Back to pashmina option and hope for nice weather? As miche suggests

I have gold Jimmy Choo sandals which go well with the dress, but are not particularly on trend.....not that that matters...

That said I am slightly intimidated by the on trend ness of tethersend's suggestions. I know this is now what I should have on my feet .... I just can't adjust to the, relative bulkiness of shoes at the mo. Also scared of breaking an ankle while carrying one year old. But aware that all my current shoes look out of date.

M&S any good for invisible panty line pants?

I saw these in H of F yesterday, they were to die for with a matching bag. ££££ though.

diddl · 29/08/2010 08:38

I love the jacket but I think the drape will be too much with the drape at the front of the dress.

The sandals look too clumpy for me.

Also I hate sandals with ankle straps.

Maybe that´s because I´m a shortarse, though!

A shrug might be easier to keep on than a pashmina.

I don´t think you´ll need a necklace tbh.
