i have no idea but i want it too

PaulineCampbellJones · 26/08/2010 21:43

It's painted on (Balayage). Am contemplating getting mine done on Saturday but worried I will look like mutton dressed as lamb!

BoysAreLikeDogs · 26/08/2010 21:44

surely that's just coloured hair growing out?

Grin

I would imagine that one would need an expert colourist to get the right effect, cyb

any decent colourists in your town? It would be a lot of blending and poss painting small hanks at a time, not easy

cybillibertine · 26/08/2010 21:54

dd was all up for a trip to ASDA, like NOW to like, get the dye and do it?

SHe even came onto MN and queried the use of my term badgered she wlooked in active convo's. No flies on her.

BALD I think its meant to look grown out. Should be faded. She was angling for peachy dipped ends. Heavens

thatsnotmymonkey · 26/08/2010 21:57

My mate has this, and pays alot at a swanky salon for it.

Go to a good Toni and Guy-not a franchised one, they should be able to do it.

BoysAreLikeDogs · 26/08/2010 21:58

well in that case can you get Sun-In any more?

cybillibertine · 26/08/2010 21:59

so me wearing disposable gloves in our upstairs bathroom probably won;t cut the mustard then?

cybillibertine · 26/08/2010 21:59

oh yeah, sun in! Good thinking Bat girl

BoysAreLikeDogs · 26/08/2010 22:02

get in boots

thatsnotmymonkey · 26/08/2010 22:02

sun-in, wont work on a brunette...you could do a home dye peroxide job and then layer on top an ash blonde....would be scared to do that at home though myself

cybillibertine · 26/08/2010 22:31

she has watched a DIY tutorial on you tube. it doesnt look too hard, I think the whole point is for it to look messy and all over the place. just as well really....

Biscuitbreaker · 26/08/2010 23:34

Ooh... if you are going to a hairdresser don't ask for a dip-dye. When I was a teen this meant your hair would have a very blunt line, as though you had just dipped a paint brush in paint.

I really like the look you posted though, it looks a bit like mine, but I just haven't had my highlights re-done for ages. Which tutorial did she see?

cybillibertine · 27/08/2010 08:01

well when I say 'tutorial' it was a Hooray Henrietta chatting about how she did it. Which apparently was enough!

I sense a trip to Superdrug coming on.....

Adair · 30/08/2010 19:52

I did this when I was 17 - just peroxided the ends (had a longish 'pob' style haircut - pre posh spice of course Wink). Looked wicked. And then dyed it all bright pink (with a tub from Camden market) so the ends went super-bright... ahhhh, those were the days...

Was actually considering doing it again recently as i loved the look (have expensive highlights that are growing out). Have only had one orange bleach hair disaster where it was on top of an existing dye Blush.

Ah, tell her to get to ASDA and just get the dye (Jerome B do bleach I think). She can just paint it on the ends... it's only hair, it'll grow!
