Tell me about cashmere

I've never bought anything made from cashmere before and have seen a nice Uniqlo short sleeve sweater I want.

So what's so great about cashmere? Should I buy it or go for a cheaper wool?

It is lovely. It's so soft and light but really warm.

Downsides:

  1. moths love to eat it so you have to store it carefully or it will be full of holes
  1. You have to handwash it and dry it flat.
  1. It is addictive. Once you start down the cashmere road, it's hard to go back to other fabrics.

I speak from experience here (Brora sales are my weakness).

Ta Bongo

Does it make you look bulky? How do you store it?

Great! I'm off to buy it now Grin. I've wasted too much money in the past on cheap clothes. Now I want to be all grown up and choose more carefully.

Nope doesn't make you look bulky - the opposite because it's so light.

I store mine with cedar wood balls in the drawers which seems to be working. I left a scarf out on a rack over summer once - now it's full of little holes!

just check you are buying 100 % cashmere and not the uniqlo merino cashmere ones, which are only 10% cashmere

i am awaiting their new stock

I came late to cashmere, but it is fab.
One thin layer is as warm as a chunky layer of a different material.

It is perfect for baby clothes for that reason, but obviously the cost and laundering are prohibitive.
