What are your favourite beauty products?

Apologies if this has ben done before but I'm new Grin

I'm a sucker for beauty products, mainly because I have 'awkward bugger' skin type - I can get eczema, dry bits, oily bits, flaky bits and any kind of bits on my skin, so finding beauty products that work is difficult, not to mention expensive.

Over the years I've tried a few but nowhere near as many as there are on the market and my faves include:

Dermalogica - for when my skin flares up, it's the only thing I can use
REN - their Mayblossom cleanser really suits my combination skin, it's never been clearer
REN - Night cream (Boswellia doo-dah)
REN Otto Rose Bath Oil
Neals Yard Bubble baths and bath oils - just so gorgeous
Dermalogica skin scrub
Tesco Make Up - the oil free foundation looks so expensive on my skin
Korres body butters
Blisteze lip stuff - essential
L'Occitane shower gels and perfumes
L'Occitane Shea Butter hand cream (fantastic)

I tend to stick to more natural stuff like REN, Neals Yard, L'Occitane. A few of the organicky ones haven't really been that good when tried.

What are your faves, and what do you recommend people to try out?

I'm really nosy so I'd love to know! :)

i really love the liz earle range. Bare minerals foundation and benefit concealer boi-ing/erase a paste and dallas/sugar bomb bronzer/blushers.

BelligerentGhoul · 23/08/2010 21:33

Where can you buy Korres stuff? Saw some stuff by them in a magazine, called Lip Butter I think - fancy checking it out as I hate lipstick and gloss but know I look better with a bit of colour.

My top recs are Clarins Beauty Flash Balm and Aveeno body lotions.

TigerseyeMum · 23/08/2010 21:40

I get my Korres stuff from Greece as it is a Greek brand, but I don;t rate their lip butter, I find it dries my lips. I saw it in a mag too and was surprised. Maybe it suits some people but I have dry lips and it really dries them out.

I get Korres from Beauty Expert if I need to buy it over here :)

Have been tempted by Liz Earle in the past.

kiehls all the way. Esp their hugely expensive but massively wonderful argon moisturiser

BelligerentGhoul · 23/08/2010 21:42

Thanks TigersEye. Have just got back from greece, so missed out there!

Lauriefairycake · 23/08/2010 21:48

Facial oils - usually Decleor 'Aromessences' - works out very cheap as you only need a few drops (clarins do one which lasts about a year there's so much of it)

Aveeno body moisturiser - used hundreds of expensive ones, this is by far the best.

Decleor Phytopeel or any light exfoliator

Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish - just brilliant

Protect and Perfect serum - great

Stila (sadly now defunct Sad) lipsticks/lipglosses

ALittleLemonTwist · 23/08/2010 22:25

Another Liz Earle fan here! The cleanse and polish is particularly good

ilovemydogandMrObama · 23/08/2010 22:29

Oh no! Stila is no more?

Shirleyhandmaidenofthegibbet · 23/08/2010 22:37

Lauriefairycake - what's stila stuff like? There's some on cheapsmells. Which lipstick did you use?

TigerseyeMum · 23/08/2010 22:38

Oh, I also forgot Aussie Cracked Heel Balm and Moroccan Oil hair stuff. Lush soap is also the best soap but they discontinued my favourite Alkmaar :(

Pretty much anything Clarins but especially

Beauty Flash Balm
Hydra Quench Range

QuickLookBusy · 23/08/2010 22:44

I love Liz Earle too.

Use cleanser, toner [wonderful smell] and moistuiser.

Also bare minerals make up is fantastic, and the only make up that keeps flare-ups at bay.

MrsSchadenfreude · 23/08/2010 22:49

Cetaphil cleanser, cheap and gentle. Although have deviated to Eau Micellaire (spelling?) at the moment thanks to Bonsoir's recommendation.

Carmex lip balm.

Another Protect and Perfect fan here. I am nearly 52, but can pass for 10 years younger.

I am extremely fortunate and don't have sensitive or temperamental skin, so I have used all sorts of different brands on my skin without any problems.

I rarely wear foundation as I don't need it, but am currently wearing Virgin Vie tinted moisturiser. I love their lipsticks as well. I wear glasses and don't usually bother with eye make up, but I got some freebies when I last bought some no7 products and love the eye shadow and mascara that came with it. I have a Bodyshop cream blusher which I like, but unfortunately it has been discontinued.

My absolute favourite body lotion is also a Bodyshop product - Spa Wisdom Africa, shea butter and sesame oil body balm. It sinks in and doesn't leave my skin feeling greasy.

moragbellingham · 24/08/2010 09:33

Stila - there's still a bit left floating around - it's on secret sales website today.

Kiehls ultimate strength hand salve really is the best ever having tried everything else.

YSL - teinte parfait for those days I don't want full foundation

Tesco skin wisdom visibly radiant tinted moisturiser

Urban Deacy 24/7 eyeliners

hidetheelephant · 02/09/2010 04:08

I like Ultrabland and Babyface from Lush which really cleared up my spots. Tried Fresh Farmacy after and I didn't rate it as they started to come back again.

TigerseyeMum · 02/09/2010 20:48

I have put lots of your suggestions on my birthday list Grin

I also tried the new L'Occitane peony perfume as well and that is very nice.

My new Moroccan Oil shampoo and conditioners so far are lovely, they make my hair a bit 'bouffy' rather than curly but it's shiny and my scalp is clear.

I could talk beauty products all day Wink

I have recently discovered bare minerals - love it.
looks really natural and not too heavy on your face, as you can build up the layers.
The dvd is good watching also !!

SixtyFootDoll · 03/09/2010 08:09

Liz Earle here too.
Lilylolo mineral foundation
Maybelline mascara

and a fig body butter that i stock up on for a pound a throw from Home Bragains!

nappyaddict · 21/09/2010 00:41

Tigerseyemum

Try this Argan Oil instead of the Moroccan Oil shampoo. It's the same oil that's in the shampoo. Use your normal shampoo then add a few drops to your wet, clean hair and comb through. Also massage a few drops onto your face and use as a moisturiser.
