teenage girls and school shoes

Was dreading taking the dds to buy school shoes but dragged them out in the rain today, into Clarks, they tried on three pairs each of their new teenage range and both came out with something that fitted and they were happy with and because they were shelved in the ladies' section there were NO other customers! Was very impressed indeed.

if you have teenage dds, I highly recommend this new range. There are only a couple of styles and they are each available in a slim fit, as well as a regular fit. DD1 still needed an insole even with the slim but at least something actually fit her for once...

And the even better thing was, we then went to TKMaxx to find trainers for school and they took a mere six minutes to choose and it was ony 13 pounds for both pairs!

Gah - okay, ignore me then! I hope that you have bought your dds crappy New Look ones and that they fall apart in a week. And I hope that you spent at least 40 pounds a pair on trainers. :)

I was IMPRESSED, I tell you. Those of you who read my comments on the fiction threads know that takes a lot. Wink

From my memories of being a teenage girl and going school shoe shoppin with my mother, I think you must have accidentally left your DDs at home and simply imagined they were with you.

ivykaty44 · 20/08/2010 22:02

can they walk to school in them and back?
dd shoes always seem to fall apart

FattyArbuckel · 20/08/2010 22:03

We are silent because we have all fainted

BelligerentGhoul · 20/08/2010 22:07

Agh Soupdragon - maybe that's what's happened? But who were those strange girls hanging around with me then? God, does this mean I have to take my two tomorrow and try the whole caboodle again, whilst some other mum has managed to get away with staying at home and letting me buy her daughters' shoes?

:)

My two know that unless they choose something leather, with a reasonable sole, they will get nothing!

They were remarkably easy-going today actually.....it was very strange.

Thanks for that, we are off tomorrow school shoe shopping and I was absolutely dreading the experience!

So you say the ladies department - not the childrens?

ablemable · 20/08/2010 23:10

What are the names of the shoe - honest I am really interested as I refuse to buy cheap shoes for DD2 who is 12.

Thanks

BelligerentGhoul · 20/08/2010 23:18

I think these are dd1's.

And these are dd2's.

They are both just sensible but inoffensive, I think. Was astonished that dd1 found something she was content enough with. DD2 is usually a bit easier to please.

these ones?

look good to me

BelligerentGhoul · 20/08/2010 23:26

Yup. The ones with the little buckle are v nice but didn't fit as well.

OP posts:
ablemable · 20/08/2010 23:31

Oh no! Slip on shoes do not normally fit DD2! Fingers crossed for tomorrow!

Thanks

BelligerentGhoul · 20/08/2010 23:34

Look at dd2's - they are lace up.

DD (14 in 2 weeks) still wears (and likes) Clarks.

(Waits for maryz to come round from her faint.)

It's wonderful- although the one style she likes, they have discontinued, and I'm having to mail order her them.
She's a 71/2F , with a high instep, so needs a strap across.
She has cheap pumps for the weekend- but has raealised that they slop off her feet and aren't that comfortable to walk in, especially as she walks to school. She wouldn't so lace ups though.

bruffin · 21/08/2010 13:04

I had the same shock tooGrin

for some reason DD (13 next week) likes m&s footglove, it took her one minute to chosepumps

BelligerentGhoul · 21/08/2010 15:23

Now brogues are 'in' again (and Office and Topshop have some yummy ones), dd2 was quite pleased with the lace ups!

BelligerentGhoul · 21/08/2010 15:24

Those Footglove ones look good too - my dds' school wouldn't allow the little stud detail though.

Well we went to Clarks and tried on those shoes, DD2 didn't like the lace ups unfortunately, and the other two pairs even the slim fit didn't stay on her feet!! Sad

But luckily we went to another shop that I like DD3 getting her shoes from and came out 15 minutes later and £89 poorer!Shock!!! DD2 managed to get a pair of Miss Rhino and DD3 got a pair of ricotta's - they do fit lovely and I am just hoping they last her a very long time as they were 50p shy of being £50!!!!!!

3littlefrogs · 21/08/2010 19:31

I bought a pair of clarks shoes for DD (12). They lasted less than 6 weeks. I think the quality of clarks' shoes has deteriorated in recent years.Sad

I would rather buy a pair of cheaper ones that will also last 6 weeks, then replace them.

BelligerentGhoul · 21/08/2010 19:45

Frogs - Clarks are usually v good at replacing shoes, if they don't last as well as they ought.
