Brazilian Keratin Treatment - success at home.

Ordered the treatment from ebay and did it myself today (despite advice on here not to attempt). Blush

Very impressed with the results, my usual dry locks are shiny and soft.

It took about 2 hours, and wasn't difficult to do, although my arms ached during the straightening stage.

Probably not suitable for anyone with sensitive eyes; it made my eyes water a bit when I was blowdrying the front of my hair.

Well worth the £25 I paid.

Ohh sounds good. Can you let me know how it is after couple washes?

roomforthree · 21/08/2010 15:01

Still looking good today. I usually have to wash everyday because the ends of my hair go straw-like if I straighten without washing.

No probs, CCM, will let you know next week.

Sounds great...I'd love something to magically sort out my frizzy straw, although I think I'd be too chicken to do it.

What did the treatment involve?

PrudencePie · 21/08/2010 15:17

Hi there, I had the Brazilian method done in my mum's salon (she's now retired otherwise would have it done again)and it lasted 3 months - but after that my hair was like straw again... my hair is naturally fine and curly. Read about L'oreal's new 'botox' treatment for hair in the Daily Mail today and will give that a go soon - they too are releasing a high st version of their salon technique but do read about it in the mail since it looks rather hopeful! Good luck with the frizz; I'm with you!

You wash your hair with clarifying shampoo (this was supplied in the kit I bought), and then blowdry straight. Apply the keratin treatment, and comb through. Blowdry straight, and then run straighteners over 1 inch sections 7-8 times.

Hair cannot be washed for 3 days, and then you should only use sodium chloride-free shampoo. I've bought the Organix range.

There is enough keratin for me to do another treatment (my hair is shoulder length but very thick).

does the packet say anything about not using it in pregnancy?

roomforthree · 21/08/2010 20:21

It's not recommended for use during pregnancy.

I didn't think it would be Sad
i recently had a brazilian blow dry at Nicky Clarke that is ok in pregnancy because it's non chemical. however sadly it hasn't been nearly as effective as the (no doubt super toxic) one i usually have...

trixymalixy · 22/08/2010 11:41

Can you link to the kit you bought please?

ValiumSingleton · 22/08/2010 12:27

Wow, I'm very impressed, think I was one of the ones who told you not to do it!!!

did you not have trouble keeping your eyes open!?

was it la brasiliana?

roomforthree · 22/08/2010 13:03

Trixy - I'd rather not in case MNHQ think I'm selling it.

Val - Indeed you did! My eyes watered only when blowdrying, so I kept my eye shut on the side I was drying.

Please tell us which kit roomforthree...I'm sure no-one will think you're selling it and it would be great to know because I hear fake products are a problem...

Lifegoeson · 28/08/2010 10:54

Yes do pretty please with a cherry on top Roomforthree, I trawled the net, but there is soo many, one we know is genuine would be ideal.

There's only a few of us on this thread, so I'm sure you won't make a bomb! Wink
