School Run Shoes.

Jacaqueen · 19/08/2010 11:34

I need a pair of, dare I say, sturdy shoes for the walk to school. I want something that will give some support and weather protection without looking too frumpy.

I don't wear trainers outside of the gym.
I won't wear those Regatta/Hi Tech things.

Any suggestions?

kickers?

teta · 19/08/2010 11:42

The new fitflop leather boots!.I lived in last years sheepskin boots as they are so comfortable.

domesticsluttery · 19/08/2010 11:44

How far is your school run? Is it pavements or rough ground?

I walk the school run (about a mile round trip) and usually wear flat or not too high boots. Although I do sometimes wear wellies if the weather is awful.

amidaiwish · 19/08/2010 11:46

i bought these yesterday. they are very comfy and think will be quite good with jeans... not 100% sure about them, whaddyathink?

Vulgar · 19/08/2010 12:34

They are lovely. I want some now!

Earlybird · 19/08/2010 12:37

amidaiwish - ah, so those are the 'high-heeled hiking boots' mentioned on another thread as this season's new trend. Do you think they'll be comfortable for walking any sort of distances?

amidaiwish · 19/08/2010 12:42

our walk to school is about 20mins, i think they will be good. i tried on loads of boots yesterday and these were by far the comfiest.

i just don't want to end up in my uggs from oct-april!

amidaiwish · 19/08/2010 12:43

i have sent the link to my v stylish little sister. will pass on her verdict!

Jacaqueen · 19/08/2010 13:21

I like those boots.

Might be a bit high though.

Walk to school is only 10-15 mins on country path. However I plan on walking for further along the canal path to try and get some exercise.

I wear these with jeans all year round,in winter I buy a size up then put in sheepskin insoles I buy for a fiver on ebay. That's my top tip for winter footwear, the comfort of uggs without the ugliness Smile

vjg13 · 19/08/2010 13:58

Really like those boots amidaiwish, another thing for my Autumn wish list!

moragbellingham · 19/08/2010 15:47

What a great idea Verity, I'm going to look for some sheepskin insoles!

duckyfuzz · 19/08/2010 16:02

Camper do nice, stylish (but expensive) very comfy shoes

BikeRunSki · 19/08/2010 16:12

I wear these, with most things, most of the time. They would be perfect for country path/canal path school run. I have them in 3 colours, collected over about 5 years. I will replace like with like if they ever fall apart too!

chocolatefroggie · 19/08/2010 16:32

Jacaqueen · 19/08/2010 18:23

Thanks for starting this thread.

My old Blundstones won't make it through another season, so these sorts of threads are suddenly of great interest!

teta · 23/08/2010 04:50

I have just bought Skechers Shape ups in bronze/beige as they are so comfortable[but horribly ugly].I am hoping that the 10min. scoot up and down a hill plus more judicious walking will magicly tone all of me more than my current fitflops[which are really not ugly but very acceptable].I really am a sucker for all these fitness claims!.

"I don't wear trainers outside of the gym.

Why not?

On wet days I wear trainers as they go nicely with my jeans. In winter I wear boots, in summer I wear Fit flops or pumps and on work days I wear smart work shoes.
