Black or brown boots?

I need another pair- yes!- for wearing with skinny jeans tucked in as all the others( except 1 pair tan mid calf ones) are tight fitting from DUO as I have skinny legs, and I can't get jeans tucked in.

I already have some black and brown- very plain riding boot style for skirts etc but they are from DUO and fit tightly as I had to buy to fit skinny legs.

Was thinking 100% BROWN to wear with jeans ( dark rinse denim and grey cords) handbag is dark brown leather. Not sure now- maybe black's better?

Vote?

I'd go for brown every time.

I only wear black with black. Or very dark denim.

Hmm

Please explain further Pioneer- I was of the opinion that black only went with black too, but there seem to be more black boots ( and more choice of styles) than brown. I will be wearing very dark denim, or dark grey.

I always think that black just goes with black but brown goes with everything (and looks better with jeans), but I'm hardly a style guru.

I tend to agree- was just having 2nd thoughts.

Brown - definitely.

I like really dark chocolate brown boots but struggle to find them.

MissWooWoo · 17/08/2010 18:40

I am having this dilemma, as I only have the budget for one pair. I also have the further dilemma of them having to go with everything so jeans and skirts/dresses - does that mean knee high or mid calf. Flatish chunky heel is preferable to spiky heeled. Perhaps I should start a thread for my holy grail of boot, seen a few I like on the boot thread but not sure what style/colour would cover everything. Oh and I do not suffer from skinny calves, far from it.

Definately brown.

I just think that black boots with denim looks cheap (don't ask me why), unless it is very dark denim.

If it is dark denim then perhaps black would be better, but it depends on the black and the leather. I know that sounds a bit cryptic, but you know how you can get greyey black/browney black/bluey black. Also it depends if the leather is matt/slight sheen/patent etc.

Where are the boots from - do you have a link?

GeekOfTheWeek · 17/08/2010 20:55

Brown doesn't go with grey imo.

Pioneer · 17/08/2010 21:03

Agree with geekoftheweek - I take it back - get the black ones as long as your denim is really dark.

Pioneer · 17/08/2010 21:14

these are nice

brown option

I've never looked at duo before but I was pleasantly surprised!

purplepeony · 17/08/2010 22:34

Actually, ahem...brown does gow ith grey- it's a classic mistake to wear black with grey- style gurus say choc brown accessories and grey are it!

Haven't chosen any boots yet- wanted Duo's Viola but they don't fit- very baggy ankles ( boots, not me.)

Looking at Brindisi, but wanted soemthing smarter. Can't go for thigh length ladies as only 29 inch inside legs- they would almost touch my ....Smile

Duo tell me they are getting more new styles in stock /web in 2 weeks.

Tan boots go with everything. They soften black,go with camel and look ok on a wet summers day.I bought an over the knee pair from Duo last winter and they are really flattering and look fab.with jeans/leggings ,dresses and short skirts [ i am 5ft 3 in].
