This comes after reading another thread about boots.
I have just bought some black knee high boots with a low (2") heel. Amazingly they fit over my chunky calves 
. Even more amazingly they come in a size 9 so I can actually wear socks with them (double )
Tried them on with skinny jeans and and a knitted tunic, it looks fab. Tried them on with skinny jeans and my swingy wool coat, it looks fab.
Just in case my mum is reading: they are actually very practical as they will stop the bottoms of my jeans getting wet when I'm doing the school run. Oh, and they were a bargain, reduced from £70 to £30.
Bearing in mind that I live in the sticks, where people aren't that fashion concious, will I get away with them? Or will everyone point and laugh...
