Questions from a waxing (near-) novice

Hello! I am just getting ready for our holiday which is coming up soon, and wondering about going for waxing (prob bikini line and/or armpits). But I have only had it done once or twice before, so had some questions - can anyone help with these?

The first one was how long do you have to let the hair grow for beforehand? I have been shaving my armpits, so would obviously have to stop for a while to let the hairs get long enough, but not sure how long it would have to be. Bikini line is less of an issue as I don't do it so regularly anyway. (Holiday is in just over 3 weeks, and I would obviously try to get the waxing done just before going).

Also, is there much difference in the results, and how long they last, between waxing and epilating? I have an epilator which I sometimes use on my bikini line, but find it hard to get at some of the "corners" so thought waxing might be better for that. I have never tried it on my armpits though, but if it was likely to give similar results I could just do that instead of waxing and save some money.

PS I am NOT going to try at-home waxing, tried it once and it was a total disaster so if I go for the waxing option I'm getting a professional to do it this time!

Thank you!

I usually wait about 4-6 weeks, I pay very cheap for my waxing..I usually see a brazilian girl she is really good and only charge £20 for a brazilian and £15 for a full leg, she uses a natural wax with honey, really good!

Eek I might have left it a bit late for the armpits then, might have to stick to the usual methods!

Got to say, although they are v. expensive I am very tempted by the new IPL machines you can get in Boots... but I think you are not meant to use them while breastfeeding, and anyway that would be more to get ready for next year's holiday than this one as I think you have to use them for several weeks! But it would be great if it worked.
