Bloody hormones!! I think you should go to your GP. There would probably be a pill you could take to balance things out. Are you feeling particuarly stressed at the moment?

I have had something similar and its been diagnosed as rosacia or something like that. My GP has given me some gel to put on and its reducing the effects but apparantly there is no permanent cure. its associated with middle age too!!!

Hope you get some help- do understand how embarassing it can be

Have you tried light treatment? for me was the best thing, after my second treatment my skin has changed completely, it looks really smooth and rejuvenated. I usually have it done at the pulse light clinic! they are really good, my mum started her treatment few months ago too and she looks amazing!

Gomes · 18/08/2010 15:31

sunnylabsmum- Really? But it must be a solution for this, I really cannot live with something that I know that has no cure!!!

As I never had it before, I will probably try an alergy test as well.. a bit interested about this kind of light treatment though..will definately find out about it.

Hey, can I just say that I had a late onset adult acne (defined by doc as light to moderate), started about 2 or 3 years ago and getting progressively worse, I was just adamant that there wasn't a solution for it. Have a read of Paula's Choice stuff (I started with her book about beauty products). I consider myself to be quite cynical of the beauty industry, but it is really good, and I am in no way affiliated with the brand. I found the beta hydroxy acid (changes the shape of your pores and gets rid of the bacteria as far as I'm aware) especially good. Before I started using her stuff I tried a period of repeated microdermabrasion, general facials and oxygen facials...found them all to be shite tbh. In conjunction with the Paula stuff I was also prescribed topical antibiotic by doc. These two together have really knocked it on the head (I'm talking going from major foundation plus coverup to now using the thinnest layer of mac tinted moisturiser if anything). They do samples too, which I tried first.

Please go to GP. He will be able to help. It may take a while but be persistent. There are options so keep going back until you find what's right for you. You don't have to accept bad skin. It's affecting your confidence and they will help. You can always ask to be referred to a dermatologist as well.

I agree with everyone else on here, please please go and speak to your GP, having bad skin affects all aspects of your life, your confidence is knocked and you just don't feel right. Go and tell your GP that you want it sorted - surely in this day in age there must be something, tablets/cream/the pill, they can give you. Please go to the GP and let us know what they say xxxxxx

I would go for the light treatment, have tried different kinds of antibiotics prescribed by Doctors and nothing has done anything..but since I started having IPL- light treatment from Sheila MacLean in a clinic on Fenchurch street. my skin changed completely! even the scars has gone completely! for me was like finding gold!!!! Smile I used to feel really depressed about my skin, but now I am on my 30s and people usually give me 25 Smile

I would totally recomend it for you, the treatments is not very cheap and not too expensive but it will change your life!!!! Please let us know how you are going...all the best Smile
