Epicare

Anyone had any experience with this? Laser seems too scarey, electolysis seems like it would take months to sort, but am getting desperate now. Have wirey hairs on my upper lip, chin and neck - they just seem to get darker and thicker and humiliating when I spot one during the day and am out&about and tweezerless!
Help please.

Don't have experience of this but have recently bought Boots Smooth Skin which is effectively home laser treatment. It has certainly got rid of some of the hairs ( have been using it for a couple of months now).
It's horrible having facial hair though, mine is mainly on my neck where a couple of moles were removed and they are strong and wiry.

How does that work then rookiemater? I have put up with it for ages, yes have PCOS but am on so many meds I don't want any more. Thanks for the reply. Anyone had success with Epicare?

Hi you use it once a week with a gel. However I think I may have read in the blurb that it is less successful where hair growth is hormone related i.e. PCOS, although could just ignore that bit as most chin hair growth is hormone related. Also expensive around £275 - £324 dependant on what promotions it is on.

Agree with you about electrolysis, it is very good for controlling the problem but beautician said to me that if the hairs are strong electrolysis will not get rid of them, when I had electrolysis consistently for about a couple of years it seemed to make hairs lighter, but they grew dark again once I stopped.

CheeryCherry · 16/08/2010 21:35

Oh thats bad news about electrolysis - that it comes back when you stop. Will I just be hairy beast forever?
Has no one has epicare experience?

Are you talking about the bendy coiled metal thing-me-bob?

If you are they are great! I got one from ebay a year or so ago.

I use it on my upper lip and under my chin, it hurts a bit but is bearable. I use it about once a week.

CheeryCherry · 18/08/2010 20:30

DooWahDiddy! Yes ! Its a bendy coiled thing-me-bob! Has it made much difference - ie have the hairs become less wirey/less often? I tweeze - does it hurt more than that?

Hi CheeryCherry

Ive used the Epicare for a few years now and to be honest it has been one of the best purchases Ive ever made.

Im dark haired and very fair skinned so it was extremely noticable. Couldnt believe it when I tried it its amazing. I use it every few days and it hasnt made my hair growth any thicker or darker at all. Infact I never really see hair growth now cos I use it frequently.

Would say though would buy an official one from the Epicare site as they are hypo-allergenic and wont break out your face in a thousand tiny pimples Shockit`s not worth trying to save a few quid,, personal experience speaking here lol they last for ages too.

DooWahDiddy · 19/08/2010 10:48

The pain is similar to tweezing but it does several hairs at once so is much quicker.

It hasn't really made the hairs less wirey or stopped them growing but like Justbe said if you do it regularly you don't tend to notice the regrowth.

toddlerama · 19/08/2010 10:53

Bloody hell that looks painful! Shock

CheeryCherry · 19/08/2010 13:56

Toddlerama...there was no need to point that out!!!! Am being put off - but it does look good. Thought more people whould have had a go with it. May end up carrying my tweezers round with me!

OP posts:
DooWahDiddy · 19/08/2010 13:59

It really isn't as bad as it looks. promise! I was worried it would pinch my skin but it doesn't at all. It's no more painful than plucking.

CheeryCherry · 19/08/2010 14:01

But I only pluck a few here, and a few there, will end up ripping out loads won't I? Then surely then loads will come back even hairier?? Oh its such a pallaver!!

toddlerama · 19/08/2010 14:22

It will get all the little invisible hairs too that aren't a problem and you can leave when you tweeze. Sorry to be negative, maybe I have a low pain threshold.

JustBe · 22/08/2010 19:49

CheeryCherry please dont let the comments put you off, it`s so worth a trySmile

It`s also not true about hair coming back any thicker or darker.

If you buy it from the official site at www.epicare.co.uk and you do not like it,,, then you can send it back and receive a refund.

I find that because I remove even all the fine hairs my foundation goes on really well too after you use it your face feels really clean and smooth.

I got an Epicare recently, am very impressed with it. It's not really painful, more just a 'prickling' sensation. I find waxing painful, so don't have a ridiculously high pain threshold or anything.

However if you just have the odd hair here and there, you might be better off with just tweezers, the Epicare is more for if you have a whole area that's all furry, my upper lip for example Smile.

It's fantastic for me though, as I've really struggled with hair removal in that area, my skin especially on my face is so sensitive that depilatory creams tend to burn my skin and waxing leaves me with sore red patches where it's seemingly ripped off the top layer of skin. The Epicare just takes out the hair without doing anything nasty to your skin.

Too soon for me to say if hair grows back thicker, but really doubt it will, it doesn't after waxing so I don't see why this would be different.
