Would this be too casual for an autumn wedding (not mine!)?

Do people think this, with some opaque tights and heels like these would be too casual for a wedding?

The wedding is taking place quite early in the day, in a city, and will involve walking from the ceremony to a fairly stylish restaurant (not sure that's relevant though).

I don't really want to look too party-ish, iykwim. Monsoon stuff seems either too sparkly or too empire line (makes me look pregnant), I didn't spot anything I fancied in Coast, either.

Also a little worried that it's too middle aged. I'm 37, size 16/14 (losing weight though as we speak). I suspect there will be some stylish urban types at the wedding and I don't want to look all frumpy. Confused

Any ideas?

Ooh - lovely! And with some pretty jewellery, this will look nicely dressy. Consider natural tights though, especially if it's a warm day. IMHO opaque tights can make an outfit look office-y, whereas tan tights are more dressy, and show off your legs more. I'm 29 and think this is a great dress. Consider some kind of pretty brooch or corsage for your bosom, probably much lighter than the dress. The fit of the dress is really important, a simple fitted dress looks way classier and dressier than a fancy, badly fitting dress. Enjoy!

Oh yes, comtessa - a corsage!

I'm not sure about natural tights though - I am very pale and if it's chilly (as it might be in autumn) my legs go blue. Not so pretty Grin

Having said that, I do know what you mean about opaques possibly looking officey.

I'll take two pairs and decide on the day!

Whatever you feel better in. There are some lovely corsages in John Lewis haberdashery section, also recommend Accessorize. Claire's also do some nice ones which are less pricey. Alternatively, flower in hair is always good. I'm addicted to accessories at the best of times, but being 6 months PG and huge, my wardrobe is seriously capsule so am really making up for it with jewellery and hair things! Happy shopping.

PS Raspberry or cream might be nice... do you do pearl jewellery? Not everyone does but they reflect light back to you face so wonderfully flattering.

Oh yes, I like pearls. And raspberry suits me (I think). Thank you :)

I second your choice, JMHPG - looks nice.

Thanks, cruella :)
