Has anyone got a Mulberry handbag?

I'm thinking of buying one on ebay and have a question - should a real Mulberry have a serial number? And if so is it on the back of the circular disc?
Please don't slay me for how much I am (possibly) going to spend. I've been a very good girl.

the thing is with ebay you can't see the goods proplerly before you buy them, and to be honest if it was avery good fake and was real leather i would prob be prepared to pay about £100! but def not the £300+ they are going for.

someone was advertising a phoebe that they said was an unwanted gift and they had the receipt, but when i asked for more photos of the inside and the back of the bag, they sent an email back , basically saying that it was a genuine bag and if i didn't beleive them then don't bid on the item. so i didn't, because i felt that if ti was genuine they would have had no problem supplying more photos.

i want abasic mulberry bag from the outlet store, as my purse and diary are mulberry black mock croc effect leather and i want a work handbag to match (sad i know). i think the leather is called congo!

No idea why they don't have serial numbers any more, but it's obviously fooled the fakers temporarily. As you say, I wouldn't buy a designer bag from ebay - I once bought a fake Tods which I must have realised was a fake, it was horribly tacky, but luckily didn't cost me very much as I was too embarassed to return it!!I've been to Shepton Mallet twice and it was good, but obviously it really depends on what they have at the time - can be a bit hit and miss just like Bicester Village. Oh well here's to more lusting after Roxannes, am I sad?

vickiyumyum · 07/09/2005 20:08

No your'e not sad, because if you are then so am i as i lusted after mine for ages before finally gritting my teeth and buying it. i am so glad that i brought the one in oak though as i nearly brought a pink one! three times i went ot London to buy it, once it was out of stock, another time i chickened out and brought a key ring! and the third and final time i brought it after a half hour dithering session with the lovely sales girl. i think she thought i was mad

i use it most days as its big enough to put the kids junk in as well as my junk. i have adkny black one for work, but would love a mulberry one to match my purse.

will have to drop serious hints to dh for christmas.

lol at buying a keyring!
I think that Phoebe bag definitely sounds like a fake - they didn't want a buyer who was sussed enough to know the difference! Shows you can't trust the receipt. I've seen 2 for sale with the same john lewis receipt pictured - either they're genuinely relisting or someone is copying the photo. Or you could even buy one genuine bag from Harrods or somewhere and use it to flog loads of fakes. Then take it back for a refund!**am not suggesting this as an idea for anyone! It's very, very naughty.

I do have an imitation Roxanne bag - ie., it looks like one but is not pretending to be Mulberry so I suppose I should just make do with that, but ohh when I see someone with the real thing ... Maybe I should just get one of my real Tods out and use that for a few days, trouble is they are really heavy and dd would probably just puke up on it. Still I do have a real pink oioi bag which I am very proud of. DH just does not understand my love of bags and as a SAHM I don't have any money ... unless I save up the child benefit ?

julesgs · 07/09/2005 20:43

Also another dig at ebay, someone had listed some new Dora the Explorer roller skates as "very rare" and a starting price of £14.99 with £6.00 p&P - well I bought dd a pair from Amazon for £12.99 and some knee and shin pads for £5.99 and qualified for free P&P, thus saving on the ebay price.

I'm sure there are some genuine bargains on ebay, but as ever, caveat emptor.

SecondhandRose · 07/09/2005 20:47

As it's illegal to sell counterfeit goods all the sellers on Ebay have to say the bags are genuine even if they're not. Same goes for all that Tiffany looky likey jewellery that's on there. It's all fake but some of it is great quality as you know it's fake there's no harm.

I bought a fake Louis Vuitton Elipse bag at a boot sale for £25 and you can't tell the difference. It's just me and my big gob that can't keep a secret.

vickiyumyum · 07/09/2005 20:50

secondhandrose - LOL at that i brought a fake louis vuitton in greece, it was an ecellent copy, my friend who had a genuine one couldn't tell the difference and i did for a couple of weeks tell her that it was genuine and i had brought it in London when we stayed in a hotel the night before our flight. but i couldn't keep it up and admitted it had cost me £10 in a shop in Kos and then proceeded to tell everyone else about my bargain. it even came with one of the plastic attachments for the price like you get int eh louis vuitton shop!

Hi. The majority of mulberry bags have the identity number..but not all.Old models don't or from a specific outlet. They are many self professed "experts" who don't have a clue and are dispensing " fake" numbers to avoid.Bought one at Harrods years ago for my former..even if I sell them she wanted one brand new...sigh...and that one have the same number of the ones they tell you to avoid.lol.Is not rocket science...compare with original...look at the stitches. ..general quality...weight...logos...snd think.A copy could not use same leather...same expertise of the workers for the real one...same material...or would cost the bloody same.lol. Plus. ..a fake one...a couple of years of use and they are gone!!!Before but...ask if possible to inspect. When u have a real one in your hands...you will know.

rompicoglioni1 · 01/05/2018 10:40

Good idea. Fake or not fake
