I've never done much with my hair and I'm sure I've missed out. I probably should just have spent my 20's trying out styles while I could carry off disasters mistakes with the aplomb of youth. But I didn't. So, what styles have you had and adored? And, what have you settled with (or should one not settle)?

I'm 34 and a SAHM to two very young children, am trying not to loose myself to unkempt mumsyness. It's a battle I've lost and won, hair is the next frontier Grin

I want something easy to deal with and that make me feel fabulous. The moon on a stick?

Hair is fine, totally straight and currently long and layered. No volume (but not thin).

I just had a look its different to my method but similar effect.I cut the elasticated ankles plus another inch off socks where the toes have gone.I put just washed hair in a bun with them and leave it in while I do make up and it is full but not curly.Leave it overnight for cindy crawford!

That sock trick is brilliant...

OP-if anything, just get rid some of the length.

I´m mid 40s & hair is straight across just above my shoulders.

It looks like a style.
Can also tie back when necessary-best done I find in the neck rather than high (but then I´m old) & with a proper clip/slide rather than a scrunchy type thing.

I also think you look great without a fringe.

I wouldn't get rid of the length.

Thank you all so much for this thread, it's given me hope and made me feel better about myself too. It hadn't actually occurred to me that a bit of tweaking could suffice!

Now I have a workable, decent looking bun and an ego boost I think a long fringe and/or shorter layers around the face is all that's needed. It'd look better up and down like that and still be as easy as it is now. I think having a bob would have been foolish in the extreme.

I daren't do the cutting myself and the only hairdresser I trust is a 1 1/2 hour journey away, so, I'm going to have to be patient.
