I've been having a look around for a warm, waterproof coat for my toddler and have come across these coats on the M&S site. They seem to be reasonably priced but I'm unsure about how waterproof they really are. Anybody bought one?

Thanks :)

I like the red girls one too.
It's only water repellent (not even showerproof) so will allow water to be brushed/run off a bit but then the water will actually soak in, if out in the rain.

I think it's a good autumn coat but defo not waterproof.

Hmm, that's what i thought too, but the Marks and Spencer customar care team have emailed to tell me that they are waterproof. Surely they'd just describe them as waterproof if they are.. Confused

They must be very confident in it's ability as it seems the whole winter range of coats is made of "Stormwear" fabric.

It's tempting to get one and take it back if it's not completely waterproof.
And you have written proof of them saying that.Smile

I might pop in and get the red one for autumn now. Thanks for saving me from more searching. Actually I might email them too!

:) If you do email them, would you mind posting their response? I'm wondering whether the person I contacted was wrong. Surely, they'd describe them as waterproof insted of water repellent, if they are.

I am still waiting for a response from M&S but will post it when it arrives.

Yesterday however, I found one solitary red jacket in my DD's size in store and bought it!

I'm going to try it out before the 28 day return period expiresGrin just in case.

Oh dear Sad

"Dear Ms doodaah,

Thank you for your email.

Our stormwear range is not completely waterproof. It is shower proof however as there is a coating over the fabric that repels drops of water."
