the foam bendy things you wind hair up with - any good ? I just want to flick up the ends of my layers...

I had some of these but found them more useful for tighter curls, and no longer use them really. To animate layers, I find that big heated rollers are much better.

would the velcro-y big ones work with a hair dryer ?

Velcro ones don't work for me at all though others will have a different story.

My rollers are like these:

Rollers
Heat up fast, quicker to put in than bendy sticks, and it's also easier to only do a few if you're in a hurry.

thanks Heartsease - is your hair quite thick /long ? mine is almost shoulder length and fine

Probably mid-shoulder blade, very fine though lots of it. So it looks thick because of the quantity, but the fine-ness means it's hard to get it to hold a style. My mum uses the Babyliss rollers on her much shorter layered style and also swears by them (in fact, the bendy sticks I used to use were her rejects).

Think about products too. I started a thread on here asking for product tips for energising layers, and someone suggested Sheer Blonde mousse which has been brilliant. I had never really bothered with styling products before but I feel a bit less unkempt now I've started using that.

Velcro rollers might work for you, especially with a styling product. I just know they don't for me -- I need a more assertive curler for my hair to do anything at all!

thanks - might give the velcro things a go, usually use mousse to keep my fringe straight..will experiment !
