Stuck in a pear shaped jeans rut - any suggestions please?

Hi all

Have been reading some great threads recently about colours, what to wear at 30 etc and am inspired to improve my look.

I am early thirties SAHM, short about 5 foot 3 and a pear shape. Reasonable boobs (in bra) nice collarbones and wrists. I like to keep upper arms covered (look slimmer that way). Okay waist although not as defined as it was pre dc. Fairly flat tummy if I lay off the carbs Grin

But am size 12 on top and at least 14 on bottom and there is not a lot good about my legs. Wide hips, big bum, saddlebags and podgy knees end in cankle Sad. Still my feet are pretty and I always paint my toe nails.

So I live in jeans. Bootcut jeans to be precise. And surrounded by lovely people in skinnies, straight legs, jeggings or tunics and leggings I feel frumpy.

Can anyone help with any suggestions please? If nothing else where can I go to get great jeans for pears on a SAHM budget? I have new look hulas and gap long and leans but often struggle to find something that fits my thighs and bum and doesn't gape at the waist. And the jeans i have at the moment are looking pretty ropey after lots of crawling around on my knees with little ones!

Sorry this is so long but I would love one of you stylish ladies to sharpen me up for AW10 please Smile

Thanks in advance x

I think I've heard apple bottom jeans recommended for your shape. No idea of price, but certainly worth a google.

Straight leg jeans suit pear shaped figures as they don't add bulk

Try the Gok thing, that'll tell you which cut is best for your shape.

Thanks all Smile

Apple bottom jeans look scary on the website and all of gok's recommendations seem to be out of stock unfortunately . . .

Can anyone suggest anything other than jeans or a maxi dress that might suit my shape at all [hopeful face]? I do have some linen trousers that are cut like jeans which I quite like but that is all . . .

Top shop skinny flares are great for pear shapes.

How about dresses over leggings, with some wedge boots for height to lengthen you? Wrap dress over leggings, or skimming a line skirt with fitted top?

Ooh - can def try topshop thanks! I have wedges which I wear with long jeans or long linen trousers already so can try that. Hadn't thought of dress over leggings.

I find it hard to get dresses as they have to be long enough to cover my pudgy knees but not too long else they stop at the middle of my calves which is not a great look for most people Smile

Where can I find wedge boots do you know?

Thanks all!

I am a similar size to you.I lived in dresses and tunics with leggings and over-the-knee tan boots [from duo] in winter. They have magic leg-slimming properties and managed to go with everything.I can even wear short skirts with them.I will however not wear leggings in the summer so i live in skinny jeans.I have a pair of apple bottoms that are good but very low on the hips.I think with jeans you have to try them on before you buy.Not your daughters jeans are good on but are expensive. Some of the M&S jeans are good for basics.La Redoute is good to get ideas on how to put things together and there are some nice dresses on there for autumn.Asos is also good but very overwhelming [to me anyway].Look for nice scarves and jewellery in the sales.I hope this helps.
