REALLY smudge-proof mascara ?

I really struggle with mascara. With 1 exception, all the ones that claim to be smudge-proof fail the test for me, leaving me looking like a Panda by the end of the working day.

The one exception is Kanebo 38 degrees mascara, which is fab. BUT is only available in the UK from Harrods, who want £5.95 to post me a £17 mascara Shock.

As this is the only mascara I have used in the last 8 years, I thought I'd ask you guys if there is another product I don't know about, before I invest.

Cheers

waterproof

Cybil - begore I moved onto the kanebo brand, I tried allsorts, including the ones that claimed to be 'waterproof'.

They smudged just as much !!

blinc

I have really sensitive eyes but this doesn't flake at all.

Not sure it's waterproof as you use water to get it off.

Bit disconcerting when it comes off whole (think black fake eyelashes coming off in your hands) but it's the only mascara I can wear.

You can order a mini-tester on their site I think.

Blinc, again.

It's quite amazing and well worth trying.
It comes off in weird tube shapes and only when you really need it to.

Right thanks. For £2.50 I'm really happy to try a trial-sized one. Ordering now !!

or, similar to blinc is Clinique special curling mascara. Although it is marketed as a curling mascara the formula is v similar to blinc formula ( it's a rubber that peels of rather than smudges off - as you will find out) but I have found Clinique to be slightly thicker or voluminous ( sorry!), so a better allrounder than blinc.

Clumsymum · 11/08/2010 14:22

ooh margherita thanks. If I go into John Lewis's, do you think the Clinique 'consultant' would put me some on so I can see how it goes ??

yes I reckon, I can't see why they wouldn't. Maybe even ask if you can do it yourself so you get a feel for it. When you come to take it off you need to use warm water. let me know how you get on!

netbook · 11/08/2010 15:10

Clumsymum, have you ordered your trial size? could you tell me how much delivery was? I can't find it on their website. ta

I have seen people online saying that you can get Kanebo 38 degrees from Japan on eBay more cheaply than from Harrods.

LilRedWG · 11/08/2010 15:50

Blinc - it got me through my parents' funerals without smudging, flaking or anything.

Clumsymum · 11/08/2010 16:34

Netbook - shipping is free

Professor - I've seen the kanebo on ebay too, but don't feel I can trust 100% that it will be genuine..

Also recommend Clinique, doesn't smudge at all, comes of with warm water.

Clumsymum · 11/08/2010 17:16

You know, it sounds like it's the same kind of formula to the Kanebo. That comes off when you use water that is more than 38 degrees heat (which is why it's called Kanebo 38 degrees mascara!).

When I started using it years back, it was the only one of it's kind. But obviously other manufacturers have cottoned on.

Thanks
