Just looking at cute clothes for our baby (due this winter) - do the rest of you have a preference for sleepsuits that cover feet or ones with no feet that the baby has to wear socks with?

DEFINITELY with feet, socks never stay on babies.

You could go footless and buy sock-ons but then baby will have drafty legs and nasty tight things on his or her feet...

thanks. That is what I thought - except all the really cute stuff in nice bright colours has no feet. Hmmmm. Do they need covered feet in the day and in the night?

During the day you could always put tights (even on boys) on then the footless sleepsuit over the top.

Yeah, tights are OK. Putting elastic around the waist of a newborn never seems quite right to me.

You could always get a couple of irresistible footless ones and then dye plain footed ones the colours you like. the Dylon dye for in the washing machine is great.

oooh that is good idea - so they have a plain one with feet underneath and one without feet on top - would they be too hot or is that just the equivalent of wearing a vest underneath?

I would have to say with feet because of the socks staying on, but I am obsessed with the feet being too small for their feet. I train people how to fit shoes, and one of the first things that influence foot growth is babygrow feet being too small.
So i get footless now!! compulsive disorder otherwise!

nicolamumof3 · 15/08/2010 21:27

i like both tbh. Next normally has nice sleepsuits?

Beware of big feet! My DS seems to have larger than average feet, and fills the feet bit in sleep suits. However, this means he can keep proper little socks on without a problem. Booties have been a waste of money, they just fall off.

So I am putting him in sleep suits at night, and romper suits (long arms and long legs without feet) and socks during the day. It gives him a bit of variety, as romper suits come in better colours and designs than sleep suits.
