They are opening a branch in our area and I have never heard of them.
Are they like Matalan?
Would dd (nearly 14) like them?

Yes, very much like matalan. Maybe slightly nicer/more fashionable stuff. Has a maternity range, work wear and more trendy things. Matalan prices.

Does your dd like matalan?

usualsuspect · 08/08/2010 21:28

Your DD will like Peacocks ..much trendier than Matalan

deaddei · 08/08/2010 21:28

Yes she does- and TBH the stuff we've had from there- tshirts, winter coat, holiday stuff- has worn well.
However she will not require maternity wear Wink

It seems to depend on the store. The one in Brighton has the most gorgeous clothes, whereas the one in Slough (last time I was there) only seems to stock trackie bottoms etc.

They do have a website to get a rough idea of styles.

They are seen as lower end of market, but I think they're better than Primark. Girlswear goes up to age 15 although not a tremendous range. Your daughter will approve, I'm sure.

It really depends on the shop and who is buying for it I think. My tiny little one in the middle of a non descript shopping street is fantastic. I often go in if Im stuck for something to wear at short notice. I find the bags are great and dont look to obviously fake!! The supersize one in my sisters brand new shopping centre is dire. Its strange how they vary.

I love Peacocks - bang on trend and excellent value.

simpson · 08/08/2010 22:45

agree with kittya - I have got a couple of nice bags from there and things seem to wash ok too...

Although I have found the maternity wear not that great tbh (well trousers anyway) but your DD won't have to worry about that obviously Grin

Great for ballet pumps, flip flops, beachwear, pyjama sets, knickers, bangles and handbags.

Not bad for cheap spring/autumn jackets and basics, tshirts , vests etc. Maternity wear was ok for me, wouldn't have lasted long but well, I only needed it for a few months.

Not at all for day in day out workwear - the white shirts are made from cheap stiff polyester and the coats are not thick enough to keep you warm.

Not a bad little shop though, and their sales are good.
