There is something going on with scarves which is a bit like Art Teacher and 80s.
Bought a scarf today, cotton, long nice etc. Because i have a desire but not the ability to accessorise.

How does one do a summer scarf? Any pointers?
I need to do something about my dull mumsy appearance.
Maybe a summer scarf is a step in the right direction

is it a triangular shape scarf or a wrap style scarf (ie oblong......that sounds wrong, ykwim!!) ?

I wear a scarf almost every day - the latter style mostly. Wear them either:

looped around the neck tightly with a long length either side draping down.

Or, loop loosely so that you have some of the fabric draping down over the centre of your chest (only really works with more fluid fabrics).

If you buy the wrap style, they are always great for wearing shawl-like if the weather cools whilst you are out and about. Also make a great baby blanket/older DC snuggle up item when feeling fragile :)

Wear them with everything from smarter looks to v casual.

Thanks! I'm so impressed by people who can accessorise. I just don't have much confidence about it at all.

So this could be the start of a whole new you :o

I think one of the big stumbling blocks to accessorising is that you can feel too "done" or try-hard, iyswim. The key is to mix it up so that you aren't too matchy-matchy. H&M, Top Shop, Primark and Tesco are all brilliant sources for scarves (and cheap jewellery too).

Also I went to college with a ton of loaded women who just always had the best of everything. I was always very lowfi and it suited me when young. But I find so many accessories look inexpensive on me where a tanned lean lovely could make them look like Hermes iyswim! It's just a jungle out there!
Don't you think as you get older you need to spend more on accessories Confused?
(Bows down at feet of new Style Mentor....)
And yesterday I bought some Birkenstocks whichI think make me look like a shot putter.
Sad
