I am looking for a pair of black leggings. Proper, deep black and thick enough so my white legs don't shine through. I'd like them not to bag at the knees straight away and too look good even after a wash or three.

I'm willing to pay good money, I just ordered a pair of Splendid Leggings from My Wardrobe and they are rubbish, I ordered them in a generous size (so not a case of overstretch!) and you could still see skin through the leggings, which just makes me think of cheap tights and corned beef legs.

Help! I must be able to find some? I have some amazing new short boots just waiting to be strutted around in.

I have some from Esprit which have lasted since last September.

I've had 3 pairs from M&S that have been really nice, the most recent pair was from the limited collection range and they are lovely and thick. Only about a tenner, too!! (I tried to do a link, but they all look the same on the website, so I've no idea which to link to!!) I've also had some from Newlook and believe it or not they are the best by far! Very very thick, wash well, no bagging and no falling down!

The worst I've had were from Dorothy Perkins. Hardly any stretch in them (surely this is the main feature in leggings!!) and they felt very restrictive.

thank you v. much - am going to try the topshop ones, can buy 2 pairs for the cost of the my-wardrobe ones and clip clop around in my new boots to my hearts content.

Try American Apparel - they have an extensive range. Their leggings are all customer rated as well (on their website).

Eglu · 05/08/2010 10:03

My New Look ones have been quite good. They don't bag.

getawiggleon · 05/08/2010 22:34

Another vote for American Apparel here too.

Second M&S ones.

Top Shop black leggings are fantastic..I bought two pairs in 10 and 12 for pregnancy expansion and despite wearing the 12 pretty much every day its still going strong post-birth - no fade, no give.

Since everything else from there lasts about a dozen washes I am massively impressed. They were £15.00.

ladylush · 06/08/2010 20:00

Adelaide did you get the extra long high waisted ones? They are the only ones on the website retailing for £15

HLaurens · 06/08/2010 20:15

I second the Top Shop and American Apparel recommendations. I have a pair of each, they are a year old and still have a ton of wear left in them

I have M&S Indigo collection leggings and they are very good.
