Do Tangle Teezers actually work?

I have outrageously curly/knotty hair and apparently these are good for knots etc...but for £10 I dont want to waste my money if there no better then a normal brush!

TIA!

I bought one for my DD's. I loved it at first. For about 2/3 months. But now it just doesn't seem to work as well as it did. I have no idea why or if i am the only one to have problems.

SecretSlattern · 31/07/2010 12:43

I bought one for DD1 as she has wild hair. Like Tortoise, worked well the first few times we used it, noe she fusses more with it than with my trusty old Denman brush.

Waste of money IMO, would rather have spent the money on a Denman.

mimiboo · 31/07/2010 12:47

fo myself and my two girls age 2 and 5 its fantastic

treacletart · 31/07/2010 12:50

Fantastic - have had mine well over a year with no loss of performance. Best tenner I ever spent.

MilkNoSugarPlease · 31/07/2010 12:56

Oh no! I don't do well with conflicting arguments!!

I have one for my dd (very very fine poker straight very knotty hair ) its fab and saves a lot of tears)

Sorry can't help with curly hair though!

cordonbleugh · 31/07/2010 13:06

I use on on DD's afro hair which can get quite matted/knotted and it's fab! She can be a real nightmare when doing her hair but the tangle teezer makes it so much easier.

It is better on wet hair, or hair with a product in such as the oil spray or moisturising lotions I have to use on DD's hair!

DonDrapersMistress · 31/07/2010 13:13

Well worth it for DD's fine hair. In fact, DH and I both use it as well as your fair feels really sleek after it.

We've been using it for over a year and it seems okay and DD can't use anything but it.

I'd recommend it to anyway, but then again none of us have curly hair.

FGM · 31/07/2010 14:00

Rubbish- complete waste of money for thick hair. My DDs won't let me near them with it. DD1 says it hurts when I use it even very gently. Best hairbrush was my Denman, so I bought a small Denman for them.

FGM · 31/07/2010 14:04

OK, this is the one that works for my DDs thick hair- just to be confusing it's called Tangle Tamer. Here, bottom of page

BitOfFun · 31/07/2010 14:05

Can anybody link to the best Denman? There are lots of different types, aren't there?

MilkNoSugarPlease · 31/07/2010 14:11

Oh, maybe it's thick hair it's not great for...Will the Tangle Tamer work on thick curly hair do you think FGM?

We have one which is excellent on 3 of the dd's hair but I have to section mine and dd1's hair if we use it as it's to thick.

PrimroseCrabapple · 31/07/2010 14:15

for my thick curly wee girl I now only comb when wet with conditioner on. superdrug do a fab shower comb v cheap too.

I then leave it until the next bath time when we repeat it. don't towel dry, don't blow dry, drip dry on a towel. gorg spiral curls!

sophieandbelly · 31/07/2010 14:27

iam a hairdresser and i love them they r well worth the money imo

FGM · 31/07/2010 15:58

Can't speak for curls, sorry MilkNoSugarPlease- my DDs have a bit of a wave and shoulder length hair- just lots of it . When I brush their hair I divide it into sections- side/back/side, and work on each bit separately. I brush the last couple of inches smooth before brushing from the top.

Yes ! and I and my daughter have the most insane curly, thick hair possible!!

Giddyup · 31/07/2010 16:05

I have really thick, wavy hair and love my Tangle Teaser. I have to do my hair in sections but it works really well and doesn't break my hair.

newstart2010 · 31/07/2010 21:59

i worked with some girls that sold them and was told they work well at first but when you have used them for a while they get worn out...

my dd has curly hair which gets knotty and wanted to get one but went with detangler spray instead.
