Driclor for me-it does irritate my skin mind you, so I too only use it once a week-I had hyperhidrosis as a child-13 onwards and it was hell......I would have wet underarm marks before I even got to school. I have now used driclor for 20 years and would be mortified if they ever stopped making it-as for chemicals we breath so many of them in every day without knowing, we eat them, and they are all around us.....so the benefits outweigh the possible side effects for me.

Rockbird · 27/07/2010 19:24

Mitchum here too, great stuff.

minipie · 27/07/2010 19:30

I use the Dove or Sure "maximum protection" and they work well - much better than standard deodorants.

Haven't tried mitchum or driclor so don't know how they compare to that.

AuntieMaggie · 27/07/2010 19:33

I have this problem too except its my head that gets sweaty - don't suppose there's a cur for that?

FunnyLittleFrog · 27/07/2010 19:36

DH swears by Perspirex. You have to use it just twice a week and it really does work.

flibbertigibbert · 27/07/2010 20:03

I use Mitchum roll on and find it really good. Never have much luck with sprays being any good.

Goober · 27/07/2010 20:06

Mitchum or Sanex.
Love Dove, just as it smells good but is more of a winter deodorant as not as effective.

scratchmyback · 28/07/2010 13:32

I have just started to use the Sure 48 hour cream - it is a bit better than Mitchum.

I would love to be able to use Driclor - how do you all cope with it though - the last time i tried it stun so much I felt like my armpits were on fire! I had to wash it off straight away.

stripeyknickersspottysocks · 28/07/2010 14:44

I used to use Mitchum roll on but hate roll ons, waiting for it to dry and white marks no matter that the tin says there won't be.

I use Nivea spray Double Effects now, its just as good if not better than Mitchum.

TheMoreItSnows · 28/07/2010 14:57

Scratchmyback In answer to your query I have found that you need not to have shaved your armpits for at least 2 days before application, do it last thing at night before you go to bed, ensure DH/DP knows the score - so no excitement induced sweating likely to occur, ensure that armpits are clean & dry before applying, and disregard instructions on back for multiple applications - just go for once a week, or once every 10/14 days - tra la - problem solved...

Have just bought some Driclor following this thread for DD, 14 who is very concerned by her wet patches. She will be trying it tonight, so I'll let you know how she gets on.

PuraVida · 28/07/2010 15:39

i use driclor too, i've found the most important thing is to ensure your armpits are totally dry before applying. i may have read somewhere that it reacts with water and produces some kind of acid, hence the stinging. i always leave a good while between a shower and application (or dry my underarms with a hairdryer to make sure they are completely dry, otherwise it stinsg like buggery

midnightsun · 30/07/2010 13:51

Another vote for Driclor. Can't wait to start using it again when DS2 stops breastfeeding. No "normal" deodorant antiperspirant of any brand even of the "works extra hard" type actually works for me.

Some of us just sweat more than the average woman and usual deodorants don't cut it.

Anyone who is fine with a normal cosmetic antiperspirant sweats less than me. Fact, sad but true!

bbtfm · 30/07/2010 13:59

hello Id like to recomend lemon and coriander deodorant its organic and goes miles.

GetOrfMoiLand · 30/07/2010 14:15

I have always been sweaty. Glam.

I used to use Driclor but it is very uncomfortable indeed and used to give me a rash.

Mitchum I never thought was much cop.

Inow use these new extra strong ones - Sure and Dove do them, tnhey have the same ingredient. They cost more than the usual - about £5 for a cream stick. You put it on pvernight like driclor.

It is BRILLIANT. No more sweaty patches. Far better than mitchum.

Poster above who says that Sure and Dove are no good cannot have tried this - it's good stuff.

here

diddl · 30/07/2010 14:48

I´ve never yet found anything that works tbh.
My problem is that anything that seems as if it is strong enough to work gives me a rash!

Also, don´t know if I used something incorrectly at some time, but ended up with a boil caused by a blocked sweat duct.

Goober · 30/07/2010 20:06

She has gone 2 days after using it and says she has been dry. Tra-lah!

mummytosquidgies · 30/07/2010 22:30

I found the Mitchum one to be crap, finding a deoderant that works has been a mission for ages for me.

I now use Perspirex if I know I have something important etc the next day. You put it on dry skin at bedtime, and it closes up the sweat pores or whatever they're called, so you don't sweat at all. Has a 100% success rate for me, but it is quite expensive for a small bottle, so I don't use it very often. It does work for 2-3 days though.

I've found that Adidas for women intensive is also fantastic, it's honestly the only "normal" deoderant that works for me. It's been quite difficult to find, so perhaps worth a look on the internet for that one! It's got an orange lid, I haven't found the other ones to be any good.

Eaglebird · 30/07/2010 22:42

Another vote for Perspirex.
It's about £6 for a bottle of roll on, but it lasts ages as you only need to apply it about twice a week.

It must be applied to dry skin, so if you apply after a bath / shower, sprinkle your pits with a bit of talc first. If the skin is even a little bit damp, it will sting.

I've been using it for years now.
It passes the 'grey T-shirt test'. Before Perspirex I wouldn't have dreamed of wearing a grey T shirt due to horrible damp patches under the arms. Now I can wear what I like.

aarghhelp · 31/07/2010 04:25

If you don't want to use Alcl, which is best?

Lifegoeson · 31/07/2010 11:37

I've recently discovered the red Imperial Leather spray deo, has worked wonders for me, and it's only a quid in Poundland and chemists.

moaningminniewhingesagain · 31/07/2010 11:49

Just tried the Garnier Minerals one this week - I'm not especially sweaty but it was crap.

Quite like Boots Expert cream/stick anti perspirant but prefer roll ons generally - Sanex or Dove

treedelivery · 31/07/2010 14:35

Driclor/perspirex. Brilliant stuff.

BUT you MUST use a hair dryer to dry your skin first. Otherwse it will burn you.

diddl · 31/07/2010 15:04

Can you only get Driclor & Perspirex from a chemist?
