Hair product for long layers

Anyone have a dream product for long layers? Ideally I want something to run through it before I dry it, which for me is a simple head upside down job. My hair is very fine but there is a great deal of it. I want it to hang nicely, and I don't mind if it adds a bit of texture to animate the layers. I have a horror of things which make it go crunchy or sticky, and am blonde so anything which darkens it looks rubbish. Ta .

I've got the same kind of hair as you (fine but lots of it). I find the weight of my hair tends to pull the roots flat so I use Root Boost by Catwalk/Tigi. Disclaimer - my hair is dark so although I don't think it'll darken your roots I can't guarantee it!

I'll watch this space as I have similar hair. People were recommending Moroccan Oil on another thread - sounds good but £££.

tell you what i've recently re-discovered - mousse!

Stayed with my friend the other night and she has always got the most beautiful hair, long blonde layers, thick

i'd forgotten my serum so used her mousse - it was john frieda blonde stuff

i did a v v quick blast with the hairdryer and you know, my hair looked better than it had for ages, not all frizzing out at the ends, the layers were nicely weighed down, iykwim

must remember to go and buy some, haven't for years

Kerastase volumiser spray is very good for fine hair with long layers.

Hi I?m Julie and I work for Pantene. I understand how layered hair styles can be difficult to care for especially when you?ve got fine hair. Here are a few tips to help you keep healthy hair while making the most of your long layers:

? Because fine hair has a lower abrasion resistance, mechanical forces such as brushing and combing can cause the hair to feel rough and dry - so it?s important to be gentle on your hair when you towel dry it, also limit the amount of time you brush it and don?t brush it when it?s wet.

? Using a specific shampoo and conditioner can help keep the different layers manageable and will also help prevent split ends and other unsightly damage. We have a collection called Enhanced layers which includes a shampoo and a lightweight conditioner with an elastesse complex which help you get well-defined layers and hair full of bounce.

? If you want your layers to stand out more thanks to a styling product, but don?t want to use anything too sticky, the ideal products for you would be a mousse, spray, or a mist. Within our Enhance Layers range, you can find a Light Conditioning Spray that maximises shine but also a Definition Mousse which gives a strong hold and lift. If you prefer using a styling product without having to go to the trouble of washing, our brand new Aqua Light Lightweight Nourishing Mist will provide instant nourishment to your hair without weighing it down.

? For maximum lift and volume, use a broad round brush at the roots when blow drying.

I can see you?re getting great pieces of advice here so I would suggest you try a few things out first and see what works best for you. If you have any question just let me know!

Julie

Ah fustyarse, it's funny you mention that, I was considering that very mousse the other day. I last had mousse at the same time as I had a 'Rachel' . I associate it with sticky crustiness but on your recommendation will give it a go in the hopes that my friends will describe my hair like you describe your friend's . I used to use John Frieda Funky Chunky (now discontinued) on wet hair and loved it.

Thanks too tulpe, am scribbling that one down too! I have had some good experiences with the Charles Worthington volumising spray so Kerastase should presumably do an even better job.

Pantene Julie thanks for writing a proper and useful answer rather than spamming, but MNHQ might want a word...
