Has anyone done their top lip?

if so, was it easy and what did you use?

I wax my legs with Veet waxing strips..they are very good..

HonestyBox · 25/07/2010 12:18

Boots expert sensitive facial waxing strips worked for me.

maxybrown · 25/07/2010 12:33

honesty - I have never waxed anything - is it easy enough to do?

I wouldn't recommend any facial waxing at home, especially not first time. Go to a salon.

maxybrown · 25/07/2010 13:36

Thanks - I did wonder that and why I keep putting it off! Do you have any idea (roughly) of what they charge please? Sorry, am completely new to any sort of pampering/beauty!

in the summer its important to make sure that if using cold wax strips, they are not too warm and tacky because the wax will come off the strip and be left on your skin.

The veet one that has cartridges that go in a roller work well

the BEST is hot wax (not warm wax, v different, no cloth strips) you peel off the actual wax, much less pain, v easy, need a microwave though, cant be warmed in bowl of water like warm wax

Salbysea · 25/07/2010 13:48

but epilators are better

maxybrown · 25/07/2010 13:54

an epilator on your face?

yes some come with facial attachments

EmmyVonN · 25/07/2010 14:21

I do a monthly wax with those hot wax pots you heat up. It's a neat enough job and much cheaper than going to the salon.

The pots say not recommended for facial use, but I did it for ages before seeing the warning. I wouldn't use it on my eyebrows though.

The wax must be the right temperature (not too hot or else it really hurts) and consistency (gloopy). Have a muslin or cloth for spillage. I use a make-up mirror.

I divide it into four, and do one small section at a time. The one I use comes with the paper, which I cut into strips and use to pull the wax.

Nice and neat. And easy peasy once you're used to it.

Salbysea · 25/07/2010 14:46

emmy that sounds like warm wax not hot wax

HonestyBox · 25/07/2010 16:27

I find it easy enough to use the cold wax strips on my face. I have hardly anything to wax though and can easily go without waxing at all so I can't really justify the price of going to a salon. The most important thing is to hold the skin taut with one hand and rip the strip off with the other in the opposite direction to hair growth.

If you follow the instructions you can't really go wrong but don't get your head hair stuck on the strip etc - i.e. if you are a total klutz then best go to a salon. Sometimes a bit of the wax does stick to your skin, I remove it with a bit of olive oil. Do get the mini strips as they are already the right size for moustache and inbetween eyebrows.

oh gawd, i feel like visiting a salon even more now! how much would it cost though does anyone know? It has got much worse since I had DS

maxy it probably varies depending on where you are but around £8 is normal for a lip wax.

maxybrown · 25/07/2010 21:00

Oh right, that'll do it then! Thanks
