Are Uggs here to stay?

I know it's only July, but I cannot be the only person thinking about what to footwear this winter. Uggs have been around a while now, they're not just a trend anymore are they? Mind there are so many bad knock offs. And what about riding boots, I had two fab pairs that I wore so much last winter, should I buy another pair?

Thoughts everyone please

Are Uggs here to stay?
I hope not.

LynetteScavo · 20/07/2010 20:50

I saw a woman wearing uggs today. Californians wear them in the summer on the beach.

Riding boots are classic, and I shall be buying myself a pair in the autumn.

sue52 · 20/07/2010 22:43

I don't understand the craze for Uggs. Ugly things imo. Do Califorians really wear them on the beach? How odd.

bethjeff · 20/07/2010 22:51

Theyre the epitome of bad taste in my book.
Riding boots are far classier.

Maryqueenofchocs · 21/07/2010 08:33

I hate Uggs, they are UGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGly.

Get riding boots, theyr'e LOOOOOOOOOOVely..

warthog · 21/07/2010 08:38

uggs are really comfortable and very warm. they may be ugggggly, but they're here to stay.

riding boots? pah

ReasonableDoubt · 21/07/2010 08:40

Uggs have been 'in' (well, acceptable) for about five years in the UK and I can't see it changing this year. There isn't an alternative to that 'feet duvet' feeling, is there? I think most grown women know they aren't uber stylish, but they are so comfy and go with skinny jeans/leggings/thick tights, so practical. Couldn't have lived without mine the last couple of years.

Riding boots are obviously more stylish - they're classic. But I always feel like...well, like I am going riding when I put mine on

Maryqueenofchocs · 21/07/2010 08:44

Uggs sit on the same naughty step as crocs on adults for me...

deaddei · 21/07/2010 08:53

Dd who will be 14 in Sept was going on about them......I persuaded her that a nice pair of leather (hardwearing, waterproof) boots will be so much nicer.
What are the autumn fashions for boots ladies?
I love my duo riding boots (swoon)

ReasonableDoubt · 21/07/2010 11:57

Mary - Uggs on kids are much worse! Who pays £150 for kid's shoes? Mad people.

MrsC2010 · 21/07/2010 12:00

I'm going for both, I have a pair of Uggs that are awesome for slobbing around and waling the dogs in winter, cold beaches etc but these have lasted nearly 6 yrs so need replacing.

I've also bought a pair of nearly knee high brown leather boots, flat soled by Caterpillar. Not exactly what I have been hunting for for years but close enough and enough of a bargain (Cloggs sale) to make them fit the criteria!

I like having the leather boots for wet days out that don't warrant/are too smart for wellies but the Uggs are great for more casual/cosy days.

GreatOrmondSt · 21/07/2010 13:39

I've seen quite a few girls in them in the last couple of days and considering my feet are hot in my sandals, theirs must be boiling!

I love winter boot shopping and I need a new pair this year so I think a pair of smart black riding boots will do me well.

I hope Uggs will always be around, I love mine!

Leather riding boots are only acceptable if you are going riding or are over 45!

GeekOfTheWeek · 21/07/2010 17:17

My riding boot are covered in horse shit. Is that acceptable or should I wear my relatively clean uggs?

HalfTermHero · 21/07/2010 19:31

Uggs are here to stay. I accepted it last year and bought a couple of pairs.

Novascotia33 · 21/07/2010 23:18

Yes Uggs are here to stay, it cannot be a 7 year trend. Yes they are fairly ugly, but you just cannot beat feeling like you've got your slippers on all day.

Riding boots are far more beautiful, classy etc.

The obvious answer is, I guess, I need both

Jewelsandgems · 22/07/2010 08:26

I have uggs and no doubt will be wearing them this year (and I've had them for coming up to 4 years so they have lasted really well and still no sign on the ankles going over)

I also have riding boots but do find they make me feel a bit 'mature'. So, I have turned the tops over and am much happier
