Holy grail hair product

shufflebum · 20/07/2010 14:53

Having finally used up all my odds and ends of serums, mousses, sprays etc I am looking for a new product to make my post pregnancy hair more like my pre pregnancy hair again.

My hair is highlighted, fine and with a natural wave through it that tends to frizz. What can I use to make it sleek and beautiful? oh and with some oomph at the roots - don't want much do I?!

Kerastase products are fabulous. The Masque Intense is a once a week treatment - expensive but you use a hazelnut size amount so goes a long way. It has transformed my poor frazzled locks (courtesy of over-zealous colourist last year) into soft & shiny lovely hair. It also revitalizes the colour in your hair making the tones look much fresher - ideal for highlighted hair.

I am currently using L'Oreal Full Restore 5 shampoo & conditioner (the one Cheryl advertises ). I think it is as good as the Kerastase shampoo I had been using. To give volume, I use the Kerastase Volumising spray. Gives lots of oomph at roots but your hair still feels nice and natural and not "done".

another vote for Kerastase here. I have just started using the nectar thermique for styling and its very good.

Moroccan Oil is the answer, have posted on here before about it, marvellous stuff! It makes your hair all soft, supple and shiny, however you have great control too...its magic!

I buy on ebay - otherwise you can get in good hair salons..

moroccan oil

Ojon Hair Care Restorative Treatment - pure magic.

Going to look up Moroccan Oil now :-)

shufflebum · 20/07/2010 22:05

Not heard of Morrocan Oil or Ojon before, they look nice if a little n the pricey side
Mary which of the styling products have you used before?
Have heard lots of good things about Kerastase but would prefer something more natural, sorry should have put that in my OP

Coconut oil is supposed to be very good as a general oi for the hair

Used to use it a lot before i became busy - rub on the hair half an hour before washing your hair - give yourself a good massage - then wash hair.

Comes out shiny! Dont know about volume though!

You can even combine oils, like olive oil as well. I sometimes used to add a few drops of essential oil too to make it more of a pampering session!

Lots of MNers use the curly girl, no poo method.

Do a search on talk and there are threads about it.

AnitaBush · 20/07/2010 22:31

no poo curly girl didn't work for me. My hair is like the OP - fine, wavy and potential for frizz.

I would LOVE to know how to make my hair silky. I used to have a nice hair cream by Rusk but it seems to have been discontinued.

Personally I think it's in the styling. I can't just leave it to dry, even with twisting curls into it - it just goes frizzy and messy.

OP, do you blow dry it straight(ish) and then it goes wavy as the day goes on?

Maryqueenofchocs · 21/07/2010 07:53

I have been using Moroccan oil for a year, you use a 5p size in the palm of your hand and work through damp hair, style as normal (I use styling gel), and then blow dry. For me, it takes the frizz away and leaves me with smooth, bouncy, soft, supple hair. I really love it, you can tell the difference from the first use, and when i've run out I panic!

It is pricey, I paid about £17 last time, but it lasts about 6 months as you use so little each time.

It is a good investment, try bidding for a sample pot on ebay and try it?

shufflebum · 21/07/2010 14:24

Unfortunately hair too greasy for curly girl method.
Anita I only blow dry if going out and will occasionally run the straighteners over it but yes it does get wavier throughout the day!
Am tempted by this Moroccan Oil, will have a look on ebay.

I like the sound of this Moroccan oil. I've had a quick look and have found this stuff, Avon Planet Spa Moroccan Rose Calm Rose Oil Hair Elixir, is that it? Complicated title!

superpenguin · 22/07/2010 16:15

my favourite ant-frizz hair product is the new one from AVON - Lotus Shield.
it forms a kind of coating on your hair against moisture (which causes frizz).
Get it from your local avon rep or the avon website.

Ballpoint There's a link to it further up the thread on Maryqueenofshops post.

Thanks shuffle, I saw that on ebay too but the one I linked to was cheaper.

Morrocan oil really is fabulous. Ive just bought the trial shampoo and conditioner too. They are great. I would never have looked twice at a shampoo over £3.00 before trying the morrocan oil. It impressed me so much that I had to get the shampoo etc.
It is the best thing I have done.

I have thick dark hair, quite prone to being dry. It is now shiney and soft and goes 3 days without a wash no problem.

The difference is, morrocan oil is absorbed into the hair, it doesn't just coat it. It also helps your hair dry quicker and straighter.

I put it on damp hair and just before straightening. I also have the styling cream which i rub through the ends if i twist and pin up because it tames any loose bits.

Maryqueenofchocs · 26/07/2010 21:01

Oooh shampoo and conditioner...where where??
