I am off on hols next week; I'm a size 12 and generally prefer skirts and dresses to shorts.

Anyhoo... Off to sweaty Florida, and not to put too fine a point on it, when it's hot and humid and I do a lot of walking my not-very-svelte thighs chafe and it's not comfy.

Is there some sort of shorts type knickers that I can buy or will I have to be in trousers for 2 weeks in the boiling sun?

Thanks

I am also chunky of thigh so tend to wear long shorts/crop trousers that end just below the knee. No chafing and probably more practical than a skirt for lots of walking around. Also, just a thought but short type knickers would be a little on the warm side would they not?

Alternatively, if you're sticking with a skirt, I would recommend talc on your thighs to help prevent the chafing (v effective)!

Have a good holiday.

I am much larger than you, but got something that is like cycle shorts in tights material from Evans. Works well.

How about a SKORT? Genius and you can sit on the floor without everyone seeing your pants (not a priority you mention I realise but something I personally appreciate!)

I like the cotton lycra bike/cycling shorts from any discount sports place. E.g Sports direct or JD sports.

lanacane is your friend

Talc does it for me

I use this stuff called BodyGlide for anti-chafing. It's awesome and is mostly aloe vera. (Comes from running shops.)

Talc! And you can get a bottle of it fairly small that can fit in you bag.

i ordered the Evans comfort shorts after someone recommended them to me on here a few weeks ago, and I have to say, they are just what I needed - much more comfortable than the really tight elasticated sort of shorts that I could get in any other shops. Not beautiful, no. But reasonably light, not elastic so don't dig in at the waist, and cheap. A bit expensive postage-wise to order (don't think the shop had them), but now that I know they're OK, I'll order 2 pair next time (I expect that they will wear through in the thighs, the same as trousers do).

Lanacane's new anti-chafing gel is quite good, though needs lots of re-applying I find.

Mueller's Runner's Lube is very good, comes in a tube like a giant lip balm, that you can carry with you. I had to order it online but sports shops may have some.

Both of those are great if the problem isn't too bad, and it's too hot to wear the shorts underneath. They aren't cheap, though, and take quite a bit of reapplying if the problem is bad.

Talc doesn't do much for me, just too cakey too quickly.
